I have seen Hayes at the Hawks prospects camp... Good luck with that. I am more excited about our 54th pick next June.
- FourOrr

The Hawks had high hopes for Hayes, stating in their scouting report that “Kevin is a skilled power forward who plays with enthusiasm and drive.” Which is exactly what the Blackhawks need more of. But it seems as though he wants to switch things up and sign with a team that gives him a better opportunity to play every game. It probably would have been a few months into the season before the Hawks would have called upon Hayes to come up and play in the NHL, so not many would blame him for wanting to start fresh somewhere else, let’s just hope it’s not in St. Louis.

We agree.

Maybe you should try that in Buffalo. LOL

Yeah brad Richards, gaborik, Hayes, Nash and St. Louis are beating our door down. Hardest part of being a gm for nyr. Step 1 answer the phone. Step 2 say hello. Step 3 wait for superstar/coveted players representative to talk. Haha I kid.....kinda

Good pickup by the Rangers, low risk.

Doubt he'll be in the lineup anytime soon though. Johnny Gadreau was the star of that line, Hayes was the compliment, and Gadreau has a snowballs chance in hell of making the Flames.

Edit: although the one thing that could make or break is Hayes size. Gadreau is a peanut, whereas Hayes is a behemoth

not surprising he signed with the rangers, he wants a chance to make the team and win the cup, clearly not happening in chicago. which also makes sense since i have a source that told me that several bottom feeding teams such as buffalo, ottawa, florida etc were interested but the feeling wasn't mutual. pretty much came down to the few legit contenders in the east (pittsburgh, boston, toronto, new york etc).

Cuz the hype created about him is far more than he's going to be worth.

I also find it disingenuous that he wanted to be practically guaranteed a roster spot on a team deep in the winger spot.

The 'Hawks drafted another player with that attitude previously and after a couple seasons of whining in the minors, he was shipped out: Jack Skille

For the Blue Shirts sake, I hope he doesn't whine his way into a dressing room problem.

- blackhawk24

Last seen in the Syracuse airport, getting off an Embraer Turboprop from Columbus. Never a Skille fan, nor a Hayes Bros. fan, for exactly the reasons you cite. So maybe Hayes, as projected is a slightly better player than his brother, who basically blows. Blueshirts didn't give up anything for a shot at developing him into something serviceable.

That is a HUGE indictment on Sather. Hayes was maybe the 8th or 9th best prospect for the Hawks. If he turns out to be anything more than a third line player, I'll be surprised. I'm actually more excited about the Hawks getting a 2nd in next years draft, than an over-hyped prospect. If he were a prospect of Florida instead of Chicago, nobody would have paid attention. Good luck to him.

Glad you got a 2nd round pick. We have Tampa's 2nd and will be picking before you, in that round. No sense to indict Sather for taking your first rounder, from every other team in the League, who had a shot, at equal money.

I wasn't surprised the Isles lost out in him. No way he was signing to maybe be a 4th line center.

I think Chicago fans have every reason and right to be a little angry, whether this kid turns out to be good or not. No fan of any team can say they wouldn't be a little miffed if they lost their 1st round pick because he and/or his agent were greedy primadonnas that (frank)ed over the team and the fans of the team that drafted him.

I hope he turns out to be an epic failure.

Everything you need to know about this thread:

The Rangers signed a young hockey player named Kevin Hayes who is apparently Paris Hilton.

Hayes apparently was only good in college because he played on a line in between Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe but for some reason every GM in the league was interested in him leaving him with his choice of teams to play for.

Hayes apparently strolled right onto the Blackhawks logo and took a steaming dump by going to work for whatever team he d@mn3d well pleased rather than signing in Chicago.

No one knows why Hayes didn't sign in Chicago but that won't stop everyone from speculating and stating their theory as fact...for the record, my theory is Olivia Munn's pu$$y...it did wonders for Brad Richard's game.

Hayes could score 100 goals this year and still would not be good enough to make the Blackhawks roster ever...even though they need every cheap contract they can find since Toews/Kane make more money than god.

Americans are stupid but no one wants to live in most of Canada so it's a wash. The only thing we can all agree on is that 'at least we aren't Mexico.'

Rangers fans are overly defensive for not rolling over and agreeing with everyone.

Hawks fans butts hurt...they probably ran out of toilet paper.

Islander fans feel that this signing by the Rangers is another slight against the Islanders...secretly they probably fault Wang/Snow.

EA's latest installment of the NHL series amounts to a roster update and features no one wants at the expense of things they liked...regardless, it will still be less than half as intuitive as Madden which is just dumbfounding since they could literally copy/paste.

Pre-orders are the clear stuff that oozes out before the orders.

No one here is getting much work done.
