Plus so far all the tweets I've read and reports coming from NY say the same thing. He will battle for a roster spot come September. He said himself in a tweet that his aim is to make the roster come October and prove himself in training camp. Doesn't sound like he negotiated any "guaranteed" top 6 spot to me.

Makes sense. I wouldn't think a team coming off a stanley cup finals appearance would just guarantee some unknown a top 6 spot just for signing with them.

1st round draft picks are now mid level prospects

So what was going on in the late 90's and eighties when you could hear a pin drop at the Garden? What happened to the Rangers loyal fan base? Or are you going to say it was a sell out so it doesn't matter that 9,000 "fans" showed up to the game? Where were the "Ranger Faithful"? Didn't strike me as all that faithful.

So you're telling me you wouldn't be excited if your team picked up a first round pick (who has further developed) FOR NOTHING...

I know you're butt hurt by this all, but if this "BLOWS YOUR MIND" you don't know much about hockey...

He was a first round pick 4 years ago not in June. Just because he's a first rounder doesn't mean he's a big time prospect. If he was this can't miss prospect he would have left college early. Quite frankly he was awful in college until his senior year when he was put on a line with the best scorer in college and best two-way center in college.

He didn't whine or do anything wrong this entire process. He played 4 years in the NCAA and a perk of that is being able to sign with any team he wants. He exercised his right. If he wanted an easy road to the NHL he would've signed with his brother in Florida or in Calgary but it came down to 3 of the deepest teams (and therefore hardest teams to crack the lineup in). He gives no facks about playing time. He just didn't want to sign with Chicago.

Your argument is flawed because the final 3 choices...the Avs, Bruins, and Rangers...are all deep teams that would NEVER guarantee or promise a roster spot let alone a top 6 spot. The Rangers have maybe 2 openings in the bottom 6 and there will be about 6 players fighting over them with all equal chances to get them.

Why would Hayes choose the Rangers if he really cared about playing time? Or even narrow down the final 3 to include the Bruins and the Avs?

Why wouldn't a player want to compete in Chicago? Simple: he disliked how you traded his brother. That's what it comes down to whether you want to admit it or not.
