This is what you call inventing things that aren't true to make yourself feel better about your own sad sack fans and sad sack organization. Don't question the loyalty of Ranger fans son. - jimbro83

Wasn't condescending at all actually. Being a Ranger fan I don't know how you couldn't remember that? There were plenty of periods of empty seats at the Garden when they had a hard time winning. - Cptmjl
This isn't me forgetting that there were hard times here, especially between 1997-2004. This is me remembering that the Garden was often full even when they sucked. |

Yeah know it's not. The fact that your denying it is hysterical. Are you going to call for a "war" with all Islander fans now Jimbro? Don't question the loyalty of a Ranger fan? You're the biggest bunch of fair weather fans in the league. - Cptmjl
You guys remind all the time how we have only won one cup since 1940. I am not really sure you understand what the terms fair weather fans and loyalty mean at all. |

Where has he or his agent said he wants a guaranteed roster spot?
He didn't whine or do anything wrong this entire process. He played 4 years in the NCAA and a perk of that is being able to sign with any team he wants. He exercised his right. If he wanted an easy road to the NHL he would've signed with his brother in Florida or in Calgary but it came down to 3 of the deepest teams (and therefore hardest teams to crack the lineup in). He gives no facks about playing time. He just didn't want to sign with Chicago. - rangerdanger94
You're right. He's going to come out and say "I want a guaranteed roster spot". C'mon man... you, I and anyone reading this knows that he, nor his agent, would ever say that.
Here's a better question: Why wouldn't a young player want to compete for a roster spot on the most talented roster in the sport, in a sold out building every single game, in one of the best cities to live in the world?
Again... we know the answer to that. As multiple sources have pointed out. |

Eriksson's bounce back ability, or lack there of, is going to be huge for the Bruins this season.
If he does bounce back, Boston's top six will be fine, but if he doesn't, Iginla's loss is going to be felt in the lineup. - MidnightMarauder
I don't think this argument is based in reality.
Boston was second in scoring in the NHL last year, I agree that Iggy was a help but the line of Krejic and Lucic......you could literally put almost anyone on there and they will put up 20 goals.
So even if we score 20 less goals this year, we are still a scoring machine.
AND that's without the obvious that Ericksson will be MUCH better.
Everyone assume for instance that smith will continue to grow and put up better umbels than last year.......I think the odds say yes, BUT one good year doesn't justify assuming he will be a stud.
ON THE OTHER HAND, Ericksson has have a pretty consistent 30 goals a year for many years in Dallas other than the lockout and TWO concussions last year.
The safest guess would be that Ericksson should put up 30 goals this year. That's more in line with history of the two players.

Rangers, even in their lean years, never had a problem drawing crowds. I think you are confusing us with Penguins and Blackhawk fans. - MidnightMarauder
I'll correct uneducated fans at every turn who pose this as fact...
The Hawks fans stopped selling out the Stadium/UC when they FINALLY stopped supporting an owner who screwed the fan base on multiple occasions. This was over the span of about 5 years. Note: The Hawks had many other lean years when they sold out the building. |

Its apples and oranges anyway. The Bridgeport sound tigers would sell out if they played at the garden. |

Good pick up by the Rangers to snag some talented young blood. I'm still confused by his decision, though. The Rangers have a pretty solid top nine, and if he wants to play now, it's going to be difficult for him to find a spot. |

Listen your friend can actually consider himself fired as a Ranger fan and can join you at Islander games if he is going invent the theory that there were scores of empty seats during the Ranger seasons from 1997-2004. Tell him I personally have let him go and to pack his things. |

I'll let him know Jimbro. Since you are the acting congress for Ranger fans. The power to declare war, incite riots on hockeybuzz, and decide who is a fan or not. Obviously honesty is not part of your criteria. Are you denying that the Garden was a helluva lot less full during "the dark years"? |

Oh, I am fully aware of why Hawks fans stopped showing up. But they stopped showing up and that's all I was referring to.
Rangers fans never stopped showing up even during that embarrassing seven year playoff drought. |

Your fan base also didn't:
- Have an owner charge fans to watch home games.
- Have an owner who simply would not sign star players and let them leave or trade them... consistently.
- Have an owner who destroyed one of the most talented/young rosters in the NHL.
There are other aspects but these are three major ones.
Like I said - this was the only period of time when Hawk fans didn't support the team. |
