Anyone else keeping track of DailyFaceoffs Team Preview? So far Brock Seguin has the Division standing predictions like this(His team by team predictions are not complete so I will use a ? along with my guess of where he will slot the remaining teams to fill in the blanks):

Atlantic

1st - Boston
2nd - ? (Tampa?)
3rd - MTL
4th - Detroit
5th - ? (Toronto?)
6th - Florida
7th - Buffalo
8th - ? (Ottawa?)

Metro
1st - ? (Pens?)
2nd - ? (Rangers?)
3rd - Columbus
4th - ? (Flyers?)
5th - ? (Caps?)
6th - ? (Isles?)
7th - NJ
8th - Carolina

Flyers finish somewhere near the bottom. I don't like the makeup of their team and think that they will suffer for it. Nearly everyone in the division got better including the Islanders. Trading Hartnell for Umberger did not make this team better. I see the vision for the future, but it isn't likely going to be a stellar year.

First of all, that post was a huge joke.

Secondly, he'll never be a key cog moving forward. He's a cheap #7/call up who can play somewhat solid defense. Lacks foot speed and has little offensive pop (has 2 goals, though). Basically, he's a cheaper, less experienced, less shot-blocking version of Grossmann with 2 good knees and more willing to fight.

- jmatchett383

I don't understand this post. Not even a little bit.

You start off by getting defensive and claiming your post was a " huge joke", which clearly went over my head. Then go on to defend Lauridsen by comparing him to Grossmann, which to me there is no comparison, Grossmann is hands down better. If Lauridsen being more willing to fight makes him better then Grossmann, I suppose that's your opinion but I've rarely seen reasons for Grossmann to fight. By all means though, look up youtube clips of Grossmann fighting. Not exactly a player I'd wanna tangle with myself.

I disagree. Hartnell and umberger I think is a wash. Umberger is a beter skater and more defensively responsible Hartnel the opposite but good forchecking. Hartnell stat wise put up 52 points only scoring 2 more goals than umberger playing on the Top line with Giroux and getting top line PP time with Giroux. 52 points playing with a PPG players is not good enough. Time will tell how the loss of Timonen will go. It wasn't like he was going to play top pair minutes this season so I think the Flyers can manage if they commit to team D

Caps Offensively don't look that great after the 1st line. Orpik and Niskanen moves are still questioned and the D does not look that great any ways and they still don't have a reliable goalie now that they lost Halak

Isles got better in terms of goaltending but the D is still horrendous and unless halak plays like an Elite goalie I don't think he can make up for the bad D.

NJ got Cammalerri who in himself is streaky, they are relying on a bunch of older guys like Jagr, Elias, Zidlicky ect to carry the load again. Schnider is the only bright spot on the team.

Pens changed up the bottom 6 a bit, no telling how that will do.

Rangers bought out Richards and have to hope Brassard and Stepan can play top two center positions effectively. Many do not believe Stepan will ever be a top line center. I'd also hardly call Dan Boyle and upgrade over Stralman. Guy was awful on a loaded Sharks team.

Columbus still needs to sign Johannsson and they lost some depth. I think they will be disappointed with Hartnell.

Carolina did nothing.

Iso-Cube Edit Talk0 295PAGES ON
THIS WIKI
An Iso-Cube (or Isolation Cube) is the slang term used in the Judge Dredd stories for a type of prison cell, typically a solitary cell for containment.

DescriptionEdit
Iso-Cubes are a place where sentenced criminals who commit non-capital crimes are assigned. Perps stay there until their sentence is completed, unable to leave. The room is similar to a single-dwelling apartment in a housing block except it is smaller, has less amenities, and has a secure door that only opens from the outside with a durable glass panel on the other side to maintain suicide watch as well as remind the inmate they are constantly being watched. Iso-cubes are found within Iso-Blocks which are analogous to prisons located in Mega City One.

Iso-Cubes are mentioned in the 2012 film Dredd multiple times, but never shown.

Attention: You,

You are the Flyers GM in some alternate universe, and both current day Sam Morin and current day Shayne Gostisbehere are available with the 209th pick in the draft (you have just lost the Cup in OT in Game 7 versus Winnipeg). Winnipeg will select the other player with the 210th pick. Who do you take with the 209th pick?

I think the Flyers are a solid playoff team. Player moves are not the only way a team get's better. Nor are off season moves a guarantee for any team.

I agree. No one seems to take in to consideration that their young players will be getting better. They are a better team simply because if this reason.

They will take a hit because of Timonen being out, but its not as huge a hit as if it was a 32 year old Timonen. I expect Luke Schenn to be better as well, he seems to play better with more ice time and more responsibility, and at this point I think they have no choice but to give it to him.

Couturier is going to be the MAIN reason why this team is better. I believe he is poised to take a big step forward this season towards being a DOMINANT two way forward in this league. He is already bordering on DOMINANT as a defensive forward, and his offensive game should take a leap this year as well, especially if he gets powerplay time. I also believe having a 4th line that is capable of killing penalties will help in this aspect of his game.

Baby Schenn and Simmonds could both be 30 goal scorers. Read will get his customary 20-25 goals. Voracek will be better. And I believe Umberger will contribute 16-20 goals while being versatile, killing penalties, and MOST importantly STAYING OUT OF THE BOX.

This team is going to surprise some people. It wont surprise me.

I think the draft lottery changes are a good step in the right direction personally. Just my opinion, of course.

I asked the question last night and Jsaq came up with a pretty reasonable answer. Teams within our division like the Devils and Capitals look to be improved, which could edge the Flyers out. The Penguins and Rangers are already playoff quality teams. The Flyers might be on par with the Jackets, who I believe got better by adding Hartnell. It really didn't seem like the Jackets really needed Umberger last season.

From the Flyers point of view, we're banking on young players stepping up. We're banking on Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier to take big steps within their offensive production. Can they do it? Sure. Maybe. We still don't know.

I think we should consider injuries though. If Giroux gets hurt, are we still a solid playoff team? I'm not asking from the point of view of any other team. I'm asking, if we remove one piece, does the entire group collapse like a deck of cards?

Hatcher welcomes Crosby to the NHL. Pronger welcomes Tavares. Great moments in Flyers history.

I finally have a legitimate reason to hate this particular ranger team. All is normal
