(frank) Kevin Hayes. Give me +7 any day

The play he made going down to block the shot and than swiped his stick to break up the pass was tits!

Attention: You,

You are the Flyers GM in some alternate universe, and both current day Sam Morin and current day Shayne Gostisbehere are available with the 209th pick in the draft (you have just lost the Cup in OT in Game 7 versus Winnipeg). Winnipeg will select the other player with the 210th pick. Who do you take with the 209th pick?

- jmatchett383

That all depends on who your other defensemen are.

Read should be playing with Giroux.

Umberger shouldn't be in the top-6 at all.

It sounds like Couturier & Read aren't being split up under Berube.

The National Hockey League announced today changes to its Draft Lottery, a weighted system implemented and utilized to determine the order of selection in the first round of the NHL Draft for the 14 Clubs not qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs (or the Clubs that have acquired the first-round drafting positions of those non-playoff teams).

These changes will be phased in over a two-year period, beginning with the Draft Lottery in 2015.

2015 NHL Draft Lottery
The odds of winning the first overall selection in the NHL Draft for the 14 non-Playoff teams will be adjusted to more appropriately reflect the current state of competitive balance in the League. This will result in a more evenly-balanced allocation of odds, with the 10 highest-finishing non-Playoff qualifying teams receiving higher (better) Draft Lottery odds than they received previously and the four lowest-finishing teams receiving lower (worse) odds. The revised set of odds will remain in effect year-to-year in the future.

New Odds Old Odds
1 20.0% 25.0%
2 13.5% 18.8%
3 11.5% 14.2%
4 9.5% 10.7%
5 8.5% 8.1%
6 7.5% 6.2%
7 6.5% 4.7%
8 6.0% 3.6%
9 5.0% 2.7%
10 3.5% 2.1%
11 3.0% 1.5%
12 2.5% 1.1%
13 2.0% 0.8%
14 1.0% 0.5%

2016 NHL Draft Lottery
Beginning in 2016, the Draft Lottery will be utilized to assign the top three drafting slots in the NHL Draft, an expansion over previous years when the Draft Lottery was used to determine the winner of the first overall selection only.

Three draws will be held: the 1st Lottery draw will determine the Club selecting first overall, the 2nd Lottery draw will determine the Club selecting second overall and the 3rd Lottery draw will determine the club selecting third overall.

As a result of this change, the team earning the fewest points during the regular season will no longer be guaranteed, at worst, the second overall pick. That club could fall as low as fourth overall.

The allocation of odds for the 1st Lottery draw will be the same as outlined above for the 2015 NHL Draft Lottery. The odds for the remaining teams will increase on a proportionate basis for the 2nd Lottery draw, based on which Club wins the 1st Lottery draw, and again for the 3rd Lottery draw, based on which Club wins the 2nd Lottery draw.

The 11 Clubs not selected in the Draft Lottery will be assigned NHL Draft selections 4 through 14, in inverse order of regular-season points.

I think the whole thing is a massive pile of bullpoop. If you finish last, you get the #1 pick. This whole tank-o-phobic reaction in the NBA and the NHL is beyond stupid, imo.

10 predictions for the 14-15 NHL season!!!

1. Gary Bettman shockingly resigns as league commissioner. He is replaced by Don Cherry.

2. After rumors swirl that Dustin Byfuglien is being traded to Philly, he instead announces his retirement from hockey to join the competitive eating circuit. The Flyers go on to sign the Pillsbury Doughboy to a tryout contract.

3. Buffalo finishes 3-72-7, but still loses the draft lottery. Pegula responds by offering 100 billion dollars to buyout the entire NHL.

4. Sidney Crosby misses most of the season due to a concussion caused by a blatant headshot by former teammate James Neal. Crosby still wins the Hart trophy cause Pierre Maguire threatens suicide if not.

5. After all 6 of their starting Dmen go down to injury mid season, the Flyers put Schultz in the lineup and bring up 5 kids from the Phantoms. They immediately go on a ten game win streak.

6. Matt Cooke injures a Boston Bruin with yet another cheap shot. Zdeno Chara goes on to actually rip Cooke's head off of his shoulders. No charges are filed, and Chara is only suspended for 1 game.

7. Connor McDavid goes pointless for 62 games. He is then chosen in the 4th round by the Red Wings.

8. As usual, the San Jose Sharks easily qualify for the playoffs. As usual, the San Jose Sharks are eliminated in the first round.

9. The Flyers make the playoffs and all of their dmen are finally healthy at the start of round 1. After losing round 1, Berube is fired and replaced by Chris Pronger. At least 4 players pee themselves in fear, as Pronger simply stares at them during a team meeting.

10. Playing Hitchcock's system to perfection, the Blues win the Stanley Cup. Each game finishes 1-0. However Hitxh is still not satisfied, cause the Blues actually gave up 4 shots on net during the finals.
