Bro, the guy is apparently out of the decision making processs in two years. That is amazing. It's the catalyst that hopefully propels this team into credibility and respect. Be positive. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Brooklyn is 1 year away. Tons of good young players and prospects. And now we have two new owners who in two years can clean house of Snow and Cappy and replace them with legitimate options. This is all positive. - Jethro09
Yes, two years from now things will change. But, for two years wang will still have majority ownership, which to me means final say on all things islanders. I'm not gonna sit here and cheer for a minority sale. To me that's basically meaningless. If you're done then be done.
Translation : I don't wanna see Garth Snow managing this team, nor do I want to see Capuano run the bench. With Wang at the helm....I don't see those two being dismissed. |

I knew it wouldn't be long before the wet blanket showed up. Why don't we wait for the specifics of the deal to be released before bashing it? It is highly likely that even though Wang will still hold a majority stake for the next 2 years (and it is only 2 years, a drop in the bucket compared to the years of misery we've suffered) that the new owners will have a good deal of control over the operations. These new owners didn't make millions being stupid. And as far as the lease goes it seems to me that the stability it brings would add value to the team, not detract from it. - PeteM
I speak the truth. Bottom line. You wanna start high fiving cause wang sold minority stake??? C'mon man. I'll be happy when he's no longer making decisions for this team. Lets not act surprised that this "sale" happened. Everyone knew it was coming. |

Technically speaking, yes. But, at least around here, if you tell someone you're going to NYC..it's implied you are going to Manhattan. |

I don't care if Wang keeps a part of the team, so long as he's out of the decision-making process. Its Wang's decision-making that has contributed greatly to the Isles futility over the past 15 years. New majority owners erase that problem. If CW wants to go to the games and draft parties and cheer the team on with no role in decision making, I'm all for it. - Jethro09
Everyone knew wang was gonna sell this year. He didnt wanna pay the 120 million to Bank of America. Having majority "decision making" for two years to me is ridiculous.....its a conflict of interest. Even the sale is bush league. |

Isn't it just like the isles to be sold, but with a catch. Wang being majority owner for the next two years just outright spoils this. What's the point of that??? If you're done then be done. To me, it's a conflict of interest. If you're selling then sell the majority stake so the team can move forward. I feel like Wang just sold his house but is gonna still live there for a few years. It's ridiculous.
On a different note, anyone who praises wang for "keeping the team on Long Island" is absurd. This guy knew he was gonna sell this year to pay back the 120 shmill owed to Bank of America, yet he signed a 25 year lease in Brooklyn??? - kindlyrick
He still kept them in NY.

Yes he did technically. But, I can't help but feel that he should have agreed to a scaled down lighthouse project and kept this team in Uniondale. It's upsetting to me that he signed a 25 year contract in Brooklyn knowing he wasn't gonna be a part of it. Brooklyn is new, but it's not the same. We all know it.

Making decisions for a team which probably won't be his in two year. If you sold your house, should you still live there and change the paint?? To me, if you're done then get out. |

I'm aware. I think that dead horse was violently beaten in here when the move was originally announced. |

I am not a fan of the move myself either since it takes me 8 minutes to get to the coli by car now. With that said the fact that they are staying in NY is the 2nd best option. |

I wish they were staying in Nassau, for what it's worth I love that old Dump.. But with that said... I am not going to be ignorant and ignore the fact, that for this team to compete with the rest of the NHL... Brooklyn is a MUCH better place for them.

I agree. My problem is that we all know he was in this for the real estate. Once that mini city was denied, he should have looked to sell right then so that someone else could come in and accept nassau's scaled down version. To me, signing 25 years in Brooklyn was punishment to Nassau for not getting his way. I don't feel personally that was the "best" option. It was more a (frank) you to Kate Murray etc. |
