I'd hope so. I hope people from around the league buy into wanting to work here. Thats the problem. Has been for a while. Maybe this means a push for a decent salaried d man to start the season. Thatd make me more of a believer.

With this freak out of the picture in 2 years and the potential with all this young talent and playing in BK I would think respected people would have no problem working for them. Hiring a President & GM is going to be huge factor towards that

I still think there's a very good chance despite only holding minority stakes for the next two years that changes begin sooner than that. You don't spend 548mil (rumoured) to sit and watch for 2 years, they'll have a voice and I believe wang will listen to the golden goose.

Very well could be. I think he will consult with these two guys on moves going forward. I'm sure they don't want him leaving a big mess to cleanup once he is gone in two years

Ok what if these owners are worse?? Is that even possible???

I mean I doubt they will be but who knows. I am still happy Wang is going bye bye.

I wonder if they have any kids that will be at draft day

Not sure it can get any worse outside of breaking the lease which will never happen. It can only get better as far as I'm concerned. We haven't won a facking playoff rd in over 20 years

so true I also believe that Snow realized what was going on. I mean this is the first year that he went out and spent money to get players who can actually help the team. I believe this is his last hoorah!!

I don't know about that. We've been hearing that Wang wants to stay the course and see the rebuild through. My guess is that's why he still wants control for two more years. I don't think the new guys will let him do anything too stupid, but I don't think any big changes will be happening in the front office.

New building(sort of), new owners, and and a new pre and post game announcer (Poor Petey). Things are looking up.

Get a dman before the season starts and this will be the offseason to remember.

Actually, it already is.

The GM thing will be a wait and see. If this team jumps back into the playoff picture with the moves made and prospects in place, I wouldn't hold my breath for a quick Snow firing. I think the President is a given though...

I had a funny feeling when the Barroway deal fell through that suitor number two might have been close. Barroway backing out was likely a response not to broken down talks but more a sudden bidding war that drove the price beyond their original 'handshake agreement'.

I said earlier Snow has a 2 year window and a lot of times new owners want to bring their own men in regardless unless the current group is off the charts. I don't think a playoff appearance or two is going to save Snow's job. He is going to need a deep run in the playoffs over the next two years just to have a shot at keeping his job. IMO he is good as gone when they take full control.

Have to agree Vukota. I would think just making the playoffs will not cut it.

A sale did seem very close Keaner. Hopefully this lawsuit with Barroway gets resolved quickly then it's the BOG vote in Dec.

I need to read more about the two new owners, I had fears barroway was only going to have enough cash to run the team at the floor. If anyone has any info about these two (net worth or other info) throw it up here so we can have a look.

I'm assuming wang is staying on for two more years to be able to deal with the transition from the old to the new building as he's the one that made that deal. I would expect the two buying the team to have input on the management positions and payroll, with wang holding the hammer. we may see more changes than we anticipate although those may not begin until next season

- Isles_since_6

I checked out Forbes Top 1657 Richest People in the world. Neither of our new owners or their families were among the listed. Wealth ranged from Several Billion dollars down to $506 Million total worth.

Also checked on the top 400 richest people in the USA. Not among those either.

Searched several sites but couldnt come up with much on either. I'm sure these guys have deep pockets. Just not among the Deepest.

Anyway, I'm happy that Wang is on his way out and these guys are taking over.

Are we now a big spending team?
- mighty13duck

Forget about big spending. I just want to be a well-run team who's front office carries some credibility amongst the league, agents and players. I want to be a team who's ownership holds players, GM's and coaches accountable for results and who's ownership doesn't suggest sumo wrestlers be goaltenders. That would be a great place to start.

I'm more interested in who these guys will hire as President & GM in two years
- Vukota

That's the most crucial piece of information about these two right now.

I would have to think so. They are not going anywhere. Not directed at you but I still can't believe people still bring that up

I don't see that, I think it's primarily to assist in the transition to the new building. He signed the deal with Barclay's and I would expect they want him to finish that. He'll still be a minority owner after the two years and I don't think this is based around anything other than the move.

Good news for Islander fans? Be weary of the super rich business man. Exspecially the guys who buy up fixer-uppers (In order to make them profitable). The company NEVER remains the same. I always liked the Islanders. Would hate for them to be messed with. Good luck guys!
