Is the new ownership tied to the Brooklyn lease? I assume so.
- golfbard

ya you can't back out of a 25-year lease just like that...

Once the sale goes through and is complete. Wang will not be able to change the deal like you are suggesting
- Dan Petriw

And you know this for certain? we are talking about Charles Wang here.

why is this a doozy? this is same man that took Sunjay - Co-Owner of Isles at first and promoted him to CEO of Computer Associates, only to make him a fall guy and he went to prison.

So tell me how minority ownership would have any bearing on Wang can do. Do you understand what Minority ownership means? you technically can share in profits but have no say in decisions.

You think Wang wont hose these guys two years from now? what can say if he says, I don't want to Sell. or better yet. My new price to buy me out is 500MM.

- Spartiarti

Tell me you're joking. Do you know what a contract is?

That suit is for peanuts....probably a non-refundable deposit they're trying to have refunded.
- dcb1

That and they want the original agreement (sale) held up.

I would have to think so. They are not going anywhere. Not directed at you but I still can't believe still bring that up
- Vukota

I dig. I'm a Blackhawks fan but live and grew up on Long Island and I understand the pain it's been. I feel bad. My dad is an Islanders fan but I think he's a bit more old school as he believes a building won't draw people, a good team will. That's true but I do believe a new building attracts new fans, brings back old fans and gives more entertainment value. Not to mention the new revenue it adds to the team which in most cases is put back into the product on the ice.

Since the team hasn't been good for a while (other than the playoff year two years ago) he hasn't gone to many games. Now he won't drive all the way to BK.

Well, they are involved as part owners and investers so they may underwrite more investment in the team; not just player salaries but also media promotion etc.

They are betting on the team value increasing because the NHL as a league is growing in exposure to audience and advertisers greater then other sports because of the International exposure as well as North America. Hockey still has a high upside for the National Broadcasts, night and outdoor games etc., younger audience....

I listened to an interview he did on NHL radio and it was bananas. The guy just didn't get it. I was expecting him to have this ellaborate explanation into his thought process of the Vanek trade, but he just had nothing.

He said the reason he did the trade was because he didn't want to pay Moulson what he was asking, which is nuts when you consider what he signed for and all the chemistry with the team.

And then he also said they'd roll the dice on the offchance Vanek would resign, because of the way the tampering rules work, he had no idea how Vanek felt before he made the trade.

I feel like if you're gunna be giving away those high draft picks and your top-line winger, you should have more certainty that you can keep what you're getting. It shouldn't just be a shot in the dark and a shrug of the shoulders if it doesn't work out.

- TheJerseyDevil1

That third paragraph is his BS excuse for why he's a moron- if you think they don't talk to agents about whatever, I have a bridge I don't own that you may be interested in.

A building draws dollars with which one can pay good players. That's why you need a building. A full Nassau Coliseum at bargain basement payroll is still a financial loss, which is why Nassau should have replaced and imploded it 20 years ago.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to become partners in the New York Islanders with Charles, and to pursue our shared dream of winning a fifth Stanley Cup for the greatest fans in the NHL," Mr. Ledecky said.

"I'm thrilled that Jon and Scott have agreed to join me as we start the Islanders’ final year at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum," Mr. Wang said. "I look forward to a long and successful partnership."

There will be no further comment until the NHL completes its franchise ownership transfer process."

A Ranger poster on the main board wrote the BOG will nix the sale as there are too many lawsuits.
- ses111

Tell him lawsuits are how large companies and wealthy people do business- it's all about the Benjamins. That's the last thing I'd worry about....seriously. You'd think someone who roots for a team that plays in Manhattan would know that.
