I wish they were staying in Nassau, for what it's worth I love that old Dump.. But with that said... I am not going to be ignorant and ignore the fact, that for this team to compete with the rest of the NHL... Brooklyn is a MUCH better place for them.

I don't feel Brooklyn is going to make them relevant. Just my opinion. Ownership with a dedication to winning does. Wang was not about winning and the proof is in the pudding.

It might not make them relevant, but it should make them profitable

Agreed. Personally, I hate the fact that they are leaving Nassau, ( I live 15 minutes away) but I am happy that it isn't for KC, Quebec or Hamilton. They are still (technically) on LI and this will be best (we hope) for the franchise. And who knows, maybe in a few years if it doesn't work in BK and the area that is the Nassau Coliseum has been straightened out/rebuilt by the Barclays people, they move back into a "new" Coliseum.

Albeit smaller.

Technically yes it it.......but taking the train or subway to an isles game doesn't feel right. Not being able to tailgate sucks.

It's better than having to surf to the games.

On TV.

Because they're in Seattle.

For a home game.

Like what....Quebec or Seattle? Sure it's better than that. But, Brooklyn is a mini manhattan. It will feel like going to the garden.

Was there really a lot of tailgating going on before games?

Like, pull out the BBQ 3 hours before games kinda tailgating, or just a bunch of guys drinking beer in a parking lot kinda tailgating?

This is an honest question.

Id rather feel like I'm going to the garden then watching them on play in Seattle or Quebec. It will not be the same as LI and it's not perfect bit if the team is good and successful then who cares

depends on the person. Lots of tailgating before home openers and playoff games. Fun times

Ahhh, a Lana lover.

Yeah, she's pretty hot as well.

Although, the way she says "PUTIN" annoys me.

Yes, two years from now things will change. But, for two years wang will still have majority ownership, which to me means final say on all things islanders. I'm not gonna sit here and cheer for a minority sale. To me that's basically meaningless. If you're done then be done.

Translation : I don't wanna see Garth Snow managing this team, nor do I want to see Capuano run the bench. With Wang at the helm....I don't see those two being dismissed.

- kindlyrick

I agree with you. But before yesterday's announcement there was no light at the end of the tunnel and there was no end in sight to Wang's majority, decision-making reign. Now there is. Two years away is better than uncertainty.

I wouldn't call it as intense as football tailgating but, at least in the playoffs, there was some serious stuff going on for sure. The first home playoff game against the Pens we had some guy from the Long Island Press taking our picture because we had a solar powered blender going making margaritas.

Making decisions for a team which probably won't be his in two year. If you sold your house, should you still live there and change the paint?? To me, if you're done then get out.
- kindlyrick

you do realize he will still remain an owner even after the 2 years right?

Everyone knew wang was gonna sell this year. He didnt wanna pay the 120 million to Bank of America. Having majority "decision making" for two years to me is ridiculous.....its a conflict of interest. Even the sale is bush league.
- kindlyrick

Nobody "knew" he was going to sell anytime. Wanting to sell and selling are two different things. His asking price was absurd (although not too absurd, since he got it and more apparently). Big picture people, look at the big picture. Two years is chicken s**t comparted to the last 20 or so we've endured with horrible ownership and bad decision-making.

I've tailgated every year for 20 years for the home opener and a few other games when the weather cooperated. We had BBQs going for sure.
