Berube says he wants to slide Rinaldo up, maybe he can play on the PP.

Love it when a guy says his team needs better discipline, fewer penalties and to stress puck possession and then says he wants an undisciplined, unskilled penalty machine to take on a bigger role.

There aren't enough 's

Probably just trying to light a fire under his ass before camp starts. Rinaldo moving into the top 9 means a winger is getting demoted to the fourth line and I don't see who you do that to.

I get that, but man oh man, the guy does more harm than good. The shelf life on these guys is short. They get a rep, and it seems to take a trade or something to jar them back to being less reckless, then it starts over and they're traded again.

The worst part is, guys like Cooke and Carcillo, for their warts and reckless play, have some skill. Rinaldo really doesn't.

roughly 1:35-145 into interview.

Feels Rinaldo did a "good job with Read and Couturier" and he's looking for Zac to "Slide up the charts".

I wouldn't read too much into it. Rinaldo's play is going to decide what happens. I think he's just challenging the player. He hasn't grown much as a player in the last year or so. It's probably getting to the point of now or never for Rinaldo sometime soon.

100% agreed.

If they want more from one of their fourth liners they should be looking to move Rinaldo and pick up Penner, who can do the things Berube is apparently looking for.

I will say I've seen Rinaldo bury some sick wristers top shelf at practice but the way he plays the actual games... he'll never end up with the puck with that sort of positioning. Never.

He really is the antithesis of Berube's game though so I doubt this experiment goes well.

Who's a dopier interview... Darryl Sutter or Craig Berube?

Sutter will sometimes drop bits of genius.

I can't knock Berube's overall results, in terms of wins and losses, but I'm not overly hopeful he'll be the guy who puts it all together.

If Berube hadn't actively tried to slide Rinaldo up last season, I wouldn't worry about the interview at all. It's like Zac's his pet project.

Can't say.

I was never able to listen to more than two questions posed to Sutter before nodding off.

Short of some extreme situation where half the roster suffers from the plague, if Rinaldo is put on the Couturier line I will turn off my television.

Happy to hear that Berube is gonna have them practice the shootout ... and seriously practice it, not just goof around.

It reminded me of how much the PP sucked under Barber, and one of the players (Primeau?) mentioned that they never practice it.

Sometimes you gotta practice things to get better at it. Shocking, I know.

Berube also actively slid him back when the experiment of using him on the PK didn't pan out. And if you really want to know what a Coach thinks of a player, instead of listening to what the Coach says about a player. Look at how much he actually plays a player. He averaged 7:41 a game. So he doesn't like him that much! Stating that he's looking for a player to improve in August, and pushing the player to be better, is obviously quite different then penciling him in on the 3rd line and doubling his icetime. I have my doubts that Rinaldo merits that. And unless Rinaldo improves his game by leaps and bounds, I don't see it happening. Unless Berube wants his tenure as the Flyers head coach to be a short one, he'll let Rinaldo's play on the ice decide how much he plays, as has happened in the past. Berube is a smart hockey guy.

Love Sutter, gives the cliched obvious answer. But underneath it all, is a very shrewd hockey coach.

I'm just not sure what Zac would be able to contribute with more ice time (or the PP for that matter), even when he brings his "A" game, that would remotely want me to consider sliding him up.

Rinaldo brings physical tools to the ice that can be beneficiary. The problem is that he's not a smart player, and doesn't appear to have the mental tools and hockey sense that is needed.

There's not much he contributes in any role. He's a plugger. He has speed and hits a lot. Can't really be trusted in a defensive role. Can't produce offense. His best asset is often his biggest liability-that is to say he plays on the edge and gets opposing players off their game with big hits, and sometimes goes over the line and hurts the team with reckless play

10 days ago, I had an over 3 hour "chat session".
Now, I am at it again for the last hour.

It is really hard and time consuming when I have to reorder sentences to figure out what they are trying to say

So far today I have had Rashmi and Anil

Oi! The best bet is using the chat feature. Otherwise you are on the phone for an hour. Sadly we are compartmentalized. I couldn't even find out who has the job, unless you are down the shore
