Yup.

I wonder if this will ever become an issue for the league. I personally don't think it would be they nixed the ability to bury contracts in the AHL or Europe (i.e. Huet) and implements rules to avoid the Hossa and Luongo type deals.

In situations like this the richer clubs can afford to pay guys like Leighton bigger AHL contracts. Stan did something similar with Thor last season. Cash strapped teams won't be able to compete for players like this. I'm not complaining, but the league has done some stupid things in the past to level the playing field (cap wise) so I wonder if they'd ever take notice of this?

Smart FO's find little loop holes. Like having motorized Rockfish tearing up 90 to save on $$$. Teams like ones in the West generally have farms much further away. Sucks to be them

I had not been following the Stripper story closely, well, barely, as I prefaced my remarks. I had it wrong, thought/assumed it was about the Ice Girls. It wasn't (obviously). So my bad.

Exactly...but over time the league finds ways to shut them down.

There has been some speculation as to Western teams having AHL teams closer to them. However, the problem with that has always been travel costs and time. That's a big reason why there are not too many AHL teams west of the Mississippi.

I did read a rumor a couple of weeks ago about speculation that the Central Hockey League might sell out too or merge with the ECHL creating one "AA" league. With that rumor there was speculation that there might be AHL teams that move closer to their Western parent-club teams. I don't know how valid this rumor is.

Based upon?

40 + point pace with the team leading the NHL at the time of his demotion?

A Plus 6....

An accessory when Kane played his best hockey of the season?

I do not disagree that he is not a bottom 6 guy, but lets not let myth and legend supersede what actually occurred on the ice. With that said, surpised the Rangers did not scoop up Handzuis to replace Richards and augment the Rangers offense.

Certainly the NYR guaranteed top six minutes this season at least in Hartford. After all, there was an opening. Beach went to Europe. Maybe Alieu and St. Pierre will join him.

I heard that as well. So Ariz the Nucs and Cali would not have 2.7k+ distance. With cities like Seattle Vegas etc the trip would be closer to 300. The time table on that is up in the air. It looks like the NHL would like to expand there, maybe that speeds it up.

Thanks jhawk, I remember being mad that the Hawks traded him AA. I thought they were the next great power foward for the Hawks. They don't always work out. I read an artical about AA basically saying he was really mad at himself for not putting in the required effort and his on ice/off ice issues. Your head has to be right, Hayes might be, might not.

Now that this is apparently "out" can someone please summarize what the "stripper" story is?

I assume this is about the Sharp/Kane thing.

Rangers probably gave him the highest bonus as they can afford it. Also, considering their losses Hayes probably gets a shot in the NHL. Considering his buddy Kreider - a much better player - was sent down last year by Vigneault multiple times I doubt Hayes will be happy with the result.

Going for the money and a quicker shot to the NHL makes sense. Particularly if, in the back of his mind, he suspects his career may be limited to the average of 5.5 years.

Almost got it posted.

Actually, missed that stripper thing completely. Should have realized.

The original petition did include requiring the Ice Girls wear pants and jacket.

Don't think it is so much about where you are guaranteed anything, it is just a common sense evaluation as to where the depth is and where path of least resistance might be.

Exactly....it has little to do with him being a "punk" or whatever else and the easiest road for him to make a team. I dont' care......I don't get why so many guys on here are taking it personally. Who cares? Is Kevin hayes a god? NO.....move along.

You and your Matt Martin! If we land this guy I think you'll be on him like I was Frolik. But for the record, Frolik is better than Martin.

I know Frolik is a better hockey player , but we need a player like Matt Martin . If Leddy is only going to play 6 minutes , Id rather have a forward like Martin that hits everything in sight . All of Bolligs fights were lame and staged . Martin drops the gloves quickly and at appropiate times . Its fantastic . 300+ hits a year .

Someone has to go .. D is a strength of the Hawks , Leddy has the best combo of Value/Annoyability ! Move him for a very useful bottom 6 forward.

If we get Martin another forward needs to be moved to give him ice time.
