Ecklund says Dallas is looking for upgraded defensemen - but doesn't mention Chicago as a possible trading partner.

Leddy? Oduya?

Should be some interest, given that the return is likely to be picks and/or prospects.

I believe it said veteran and upgrade. Both of those words rule Leddy out. Rozy for a 7th works for me. Hell, we will even give em Versteeg for free.

I would be hesitant to trade in the division unless we are getting a player who can help now. The other thing thing is Stars GM Jim Nill is cut from the Detroit cloth which is the Hawks model as well and it involves D-men who can skate. No reason to help them build that just because they have a need. Let's a keep a hole in a division rival a hole.

If the best deal is with Dallas - or St. Louis, or Colorado, or Minny - make the deal.

If it helps a divisional opponent, then it does - just make Chicago the best team possible.

This! If you believe that you´ll get the best possible return - just do it. No matter what team that is. Just don´t turn into Mike Smith and make only others better.

Dont see why Bowman would have ANY interest in helping out a division rival whose only glaring weakness right now is on the blue line

Indeed.

Fair thee well Patrick.

Well that's just it. Unless they're dealing Sharp, where does TT play in Chicago this year?

Indications are, they're probably not dealing Sharp any time soon.

Seems the writing on the wall is Teravainen will need to earn a job at Rockford, and a spot will need to open, either through a trade or someone really faltering in the top 6.

Just amazes me that everyone is so gung ho to force him in now. Oh well.

Not to mention, we always chirp about the physicality and toughness in the playoffs

While Sharp isnt a bryan bickell or anything, moving out sharp and handing the position over to TT definitely makes us softer, hell TT for anyone currently on the roster

Haven't done beer, but have been doing wine for roughly 3 years. Great hobby, and surprisingly good stuff you can produce if you have patience. Feels good when other people drink the stuff you've made and rave about it.

Have an expensive taste in wine, so need to make all the stuff I can't afford to buy (Amarone, Barolo, Super Tuscan, etc)

Beer is done much faster, (all the wine I make is a minimum of two year aging) and I've tasted some pretty good home brews that people have made.

Again, I'd recommend home brewing, beer or wine, great hobby.

When I drank, this was where I went: Barolo, Barbaresco, Super Tuscans, Oregon and Sonoma Pinots, GSMs, some zins, some cabs. Also enjoyed some Rose'.

Also made some of my own, largely Barolo and Pinot, got kinda good at it, once I got the sulfite residues under control.

Second in the Tribune, according to Google.

Too cynical: every action is not a blatant front office manipulation.

In this case, I don't think it is. It's fans and some media who are hyping this kid. The FO and coaches I think have him on an appropriate timetable.

Some of the "conversations" I had this summer with fans convinced he was the 2C on October 1 were priceless.

DBTH, because sometimes it makes you look like an idiot and a jerk.

Don't see why Bowman wouldn't make the best deal possible for the Hawks - the one that makes the Blackhawks the best they can be - no matter who it's with.

The key is to make the blackhawks the best they can be NOW given the cup window is the present

Trading Leddy/Oduya/whoever to help improve the Stars with a return of picks/prospects does not reach that objective, AT ALL

Why worry about the Stars when you also have to worry about Colorado, St. Louis, Minnesota, LA, Anaheim, SJ? Chances are you won't even play the Stars in the tournament.

And you have to worry about the cap.

After Stan makes the final deal that gets them under the cap, I see very little "way" that the roster for this year can be better than it is today - trading anybody but Sharp gets you back probably nothing that helps this year.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth.

Where and when did I ever advocate for TT making the Hawks?

All I ever said was that his tires are being pumped. When you asked about where he's going to line, my respond was lets see how Stan deals with the roster before figuring out who he's lining up with.

When and where did I ever say it was a good idea?

Stop trying to start arguments to just increase your bloodly hit totals.

BTW...Mr. Brave missed the 3rd article coming from the Hawks themselves..

Beav, I did miss the third article - doesn't change my opinion.

Slow hockey news time of the year - Media will jump on anything to get something in the paper - Hawks PR machine working in the summer? OK - but still: sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I just think you're being too casual about the idea of improving a division rivals team, who was also a playoff team last year. And we could easily wind up drawing them in the first round with the new playoff format

Four, looking thru the "window" your right. Next season will be a challenge so you have to think you make your best run this season. With that said, which d'man is the most replaceable? I would say Rozy. In all likely hood nexy seasons opening day roster will be without Sharp, Versteeg, Richards, Regin, Leddy, Rundblad and maybe Bickell and Oduya. With the inevitable influx of younger guys and a couple vet signings next years hawks will look more like the 2008 team, just not good enough to win the West and probably not good enough to win the divisional round.

I don't think it is so black and white when you consider a division rival.

ESPECIALLY with the new playoff format where the first two rounds are vs your division
