Brett Favre has never been on quite the same power trip, so this makes little sense.

Sorry, I know I'm late (again), but something I don't think a lot of people take into account when assessing whether a guy is ready for the show or not is the team he played on in junior.

I read this one guy's argument from earlier that Draisaitl should be given the extra year in junior to dominate in every facet of the game, but I don't think he realized that Leon has already done that. Much like Nuge in his draft year, he played on a mediocre team where he had to play top EV minutes, PP minutes, and PK minutes. It's not a situation where he's coming from a stacked team where he got prime minutes (sans PK) like Huberdeau or Drouin. He's done everything there is to do aside from winning a championship, and that likely wouldn't happen so long as team's like Portland are around.

But if guys like him go back to juniors they are traded to stacked contenders already built for a real shot at the mem cup, that's how mediocre whl teams build their talent pools over time,

But if he wants to play against professions now, that's a different story, he's oilers or nothing, and if that's the case you better be damn sure he's ready, you don't want to rush him just to keep him in North America, that's why I see a center being invited to camp just in case he doesn't have a strong camp, you need that plan b or c.

Or if the camp isn't going well for him and need to bring in a guy, you could be aggressive on the waiver wire for a C as a short term fix. Not saying this is a target but just as an example... Leafs have 15 forwards under contract, maybe they have to send down Peter Holland if he doesn't make it out of camp. There will be a few guys like that kicking around to plug into a 3rd/4th line C

Something to what? Yak wasn't injured. Hall was injured in a fight with a goon. RNH fell into the boards funny. If the argument is that 1st Overall picks shouldn't play right away because Hockey can be dangerous then I'm not sure why anybody would EVER be allowed to play in the NHL.

I don't think the leafs are going to give up Holland he's shown some great skill and can play center/wing I think they will move someone else before him, who I'm not sure but I can't see them just losing Holland.

someone has to be sent down on that team, I don't think there is any waiver exempt players currently signed.

Just checked, Frattin, Bodie, Holland all have to pass through waivers to be sent down. Someone can poach them if they want

3/4 of that line up should be in the AHL....

One of them will be carried as an extra forward, Frattin could be poached, Holland is risky to put on waivers, but they have Bozak, Kadri, Santorelli, and Kontiola as listed Centers already. Don't see where Holland fits, chances are marlies to start the season.

Point is, even if there isn't any good remaining UFA Centers out now, if you find Oilers are lacking a C at training camp, some will probably be popping up on the waiver wire. No need to burn a contract on some scrap UFA

I agree plus we don't have a lot of opinions. Boston or Chicago does it no one blinks and eye. Just cause we suck doesn't mean he isn't ready. Most proved it, after 9 games they belonged. If he has less then 4 points after nine games send him down. I think he is ready and its up to Leon to prove it. I Would'nt say send him down for no reason. We will all know after nine games especially people who matter on the Oilers coaching staff.

I thought hockey knowledge was based on how good the team was that you cheered for.
