He's not replacing anyone on the top three. And if your fourth line is Kruger, Morin and Versteeg, he's still not beating them out.

Sharp Toews Hossa
Saad Richards Kane
Bickell Shaw Smith

- golfbard

Versteeg sucks at this point but no sense in arguing with someone that refuses to see that there is always a possibility for a kid to unseat depth players.

All of that NHL experience Smith has makes him an absolute lock for that third line right wing spot, huh?
- MidnightMarauder

Uh yea... his ice time grew over time and scored 14 goals on the 4th line whose job isn't to score. His time went up as the season wore on. Q loves him, he's trusted and getting better. No way Hayes beats him out.

Not to mention Smith paid his dues in Rockford, and played very well there

Just like Hawks fans act like they were around 10 years ago, don't such a sour hater, you get a 2nd round pick
- KreiderBomb

We weren't around ten years ago? Not good, yes. But let's not talk like the Rangers have been great since they won the Cup in 94.

Ok, you have a better pulse on the Blackhawks than I would, no doubt about that.

He wasn't, he was shedding light on how the Hawks fans were not really around for a good little while until the team started turning it around about six years ago.

Unless, that "Restore the Roar" slogan was solely a slogan and didn't really mean anything towards the United Center being half empty for at least five years.

If the three teams that had the best shot to sign Hayes were the Bruins, Avs, & Ranges then it makes sense for Hayes to sign with the Rangers. His best chance of cracking the lineup would be with the Rangers. I would say they have the weakest forward core out of those teams. If Hayes was a D-Man there is no way he would have signed with the Rangers because they're D is already loaded. Not surprised at all he signed where he did

Sure there is. Teuvo Tervainen is one of the top prospects in hockey. He could win the job which would move him up. Joakim Nordstrom has marinated for a few years in Rockford and played a bit in Chicago. Point is the Hawks like to let players develop. Not just rush them from college to the pros.

There are quite a few fans who jumped on the bandwagon during that time. It happens when teams are successful. I can say I've been a fan for 30 years so I'm not in that boat. I remember the down years vividly. Also the restore the roar slogan I think was when they opened the UC if I remember correctly.

I can easily debate that the Bruins forward units are not that strong either. Up the middle they are solid but they are pretty thin on the wing, especially if Eriksson doesn't rebound from last year's nightmare of a season.

No, that slogan was fairly recent. The UC has been around since the mid-90s and, upon it's inception, the UC was one of the loudest hockey arenas to play in. When they hit their dark ages though, and management literally shut their fans out, the arena became a mausoleum.

I don't know man the Bruins scored the 3rd most goals in the league last year and the Rangers were around 20th. Bruins had 4 wingers with 20 goals or more and the Rangers had 1. Not sure how much of a debate it is or if its even worth debating . Just my opinion that's all

That's true, until recently the Hawks were in a bigger drought but from 94 until now Rangers fans haven't wavered

Anybody know where the Rangers stand on the 50 contract limit now? Do they have to move a player before re-signing John Moore? Can contracts (i.e., Duclair) be deferred until next year?
