Um No

Sharp Toews Hossa
Saad Richards Kane
Bickell Shaw Smith

who exactly is Hayes better than right now of that group?

Guys like Kruger and Morin are also more established than Hayes to and are in front of him.

And Hayes being fourth line would be a complete train wreck

One season and he is proven, ok, that makes a lot of sense.
- MidnightMarauder

Ben Smith scored 14 goals in his first NHL season playing the fourth line all season long. Why wouldnt he be considered proven? Especially since during the postseason Quenneville was moving him up the lines

i don't get why everybody complains about this, if they are honest they would be happy to sign an NHL ready prospect for nothing but money

A good training camp out of Hayes and a bad one by Smith and you still would have made this statement?

Obviously not saying Hayes is assured of being a good pro but I think the fact there were issues, not relates to his on ice progression, that caused the rift between he and the organization.

Anybody knocking this signing is just sour plain and simple. If the kid turns out to be a bust then it only cost a few bucks. If he turns out to be a top 9 forward makes it look even better.

Right just like the Rangers faithful believe they just signed a lock 20-30 goal scorer.

Just like Hawks fans act like they were around 10 years ago, don't such a sour hater, you get a 2nd round pick

Yes, and you clearly dont know how Q views one dimension offensive prospects vs players he trusts.

He very much trusts Ben Smith and plays him in literally every situation, often putting him out vs other teams top lines during the season, and thats a fact. Its the reason Morin has had to wait this long, its the reason Pirri never stuck, its the reason Jimmy Hayes couldnt stick.

Pirri had a good camp and Hanzus was still on the mend from offseason surgery. Guess who was the opening night 2C? Handzus

Exactly, it's a prospect back in the pool, we needed a 1st round talent to replace the ones we traded

The Rangers have already been without a first round selection for the last two years and will be again, unless they acquire one in a trade, in the upcoming draft.

This Hayes signing was almost a must for an organization trying to maintain a good amount of prospects in the system. He is not assured of success in the NHL but those that are already writing him off are nuts.

Not that Kane and Hayes are comparable, in terms of talent, but if you think Kane has always been a responsible two way player, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

I get it though, in your opinion Hayes would not be a Hawk this season.

He literally could have went anywhere but NY or Toronto and most NHL fans would be singing that team's praises over such a solid signing with a potential high ceiling.

My personal favorites are the ones that predict how the season is going to play out...in July.

High on my sh!t list are the fans and hack writers that swear by the advanced stat systems to foresee how next season is going to break down.

Hayes can't beat out Lombardi for the third line left wing spot?
- MidnightMarauder

He's not replacing anyone on the top three. And if your fourth line is Kruger, Morin and Versteeg, he's still not beating them out.

Thanks for carrying the blog. In DC with my wife, will get a new blog up later today. Hard not to like the signing, add talent with no cost other than cap room, which likely won't be too big of a hit. One contact will have to go and still think they have room to get J Moore signed
