Finally something we can agree on. Totally agree with #2.

I've been saying all summer how the Islanders haven't gotten any better, at least offensively, unless it's going to come from their rookies.

The 2 main pieces they added in Grabo and Kuli essentially have the same points combined as Moulson and later Vanek would have provided so at best it's a lateral move and for more money

- nikel

They did get better but not anywhere near good enough.

Regardless of how they finish, that trade was awful and it's laughable Capuano or Snow still have jobs.

Thomas Vanek has turned into

Josh Gorges
Matt Moulson
Brycen Martin
2015 1st
2015 2nd
Torrey Mitchell
Eric Cornel.

That's quite a haul for a lazy one dimensional forward

Listen, the Kule contract may look bad now, but I expect him to hit 40~ pts with solid two way play. It may be a slight over pay, but thats okay considering the Isles are easily cost controlled for the 4 years he will be here.

Grabovski on the other hand will probably touch 50~ pts and will provide excellent two way play as well.

And the Isles will be capable of running our 2nd and 3rd line as equals. We have plenty of capspace and leverage on all of our young players. The twoway play is more important than offensive, as if we were healthy we would have finished in the top 10 in goals for last year. We need the defensive forward play more

Who knows maybe Kule will hit 25 goals and surprise us all.

You guys have a playoff worthy team. But until snows gone. You're going nowhere. And I hate to say that because I love the players on that team.

Mike Gillis was pretty good to start wasn't he? Or wait...I know Burke drafted the Sedins and Bieksa, Nonis traded for Lou, but who drafted/Acquired Schneider, Burrows, Kesler, Hamhuis, Edler and Erhoff? Up until very recently, that was a great team with GMMG at the helm.

Like you said. In the beginning. He was fantastic. After 2011 he slowly began destroying this team. Just my humble opinion. After 2011 the guy was a disaster. How many no trades do we have on this team? Jason Garisson seems to be looking more for the canucks than he us himself. I give the guy huge props for leaving his home city to move on to where he is.

patiently awaits an explanation on how a GM is supposed to trade two players with NMC's.

I think the combination of Wang, snow and Capuano is possibly the worst group in the league. Unfortunately until November we're stuck with Capuano (he'll be canned when we start our annual November slide) but Wang and Snow are likely here for a long while.

Most Islanders fans will tell you he had a great offseason. There could still be a trade coming for we have a boatload of well above average prospects and 14 signed forwards.

Garth is like a rollercoaster, will make good moves and then bad moves. But every move he made this summer was good for us.

Burke also signed Bieksa. I believe Burrows was recommended to him by a scout(current Jets assistant GM). Edler was all Thomas Gradin(Swedish scout still with team).

Gillis made some nice moves to start with Ehrhoff, Samuelsson, offersheeting Backes, Demitra and Sundin was a good signing but that 2 year contract he offered him was ridiculous. After the SCF he really did go downhill and overplayed his hand.

I'll also give Nonis credit for holding onto the Sedins, Schneider, Edler when many Canuck fans wanted Brad Richards or Olli Jokinen back then. However his trade deadline moves to acquire washed up players for 2nd rounders were brutal.

Hahaha bashing the Islanders for Grabovski/Kulemin. First, people bash that they don't spend money. Then, they spent too much money on two good players. Ridiculous.

Comparing them to the Leafs? They didn't need 6 players; they needed two good ones and got them.

All these people bashing Garth Snow probably have never read an Islanders blog or news story in their life. People just like to follow the easy narrative without doing any type of research for themselves.

Seriously, after the Vanek deal (which really isn't that bad), he has made, like, no bad moves. He gave up nothing for Ryan Smyth in his first year, has completely restocked the farm system, and has the Isles looking really good. He's been much less damaging than a lot of other GMs (Flyers, Leafs for years, etc.). They were signing 40-year olds like Jay Pandolfo when Snow first got here, because they literally didn't have players to fill out the lineup. Now, they have a top farm system.

Also, got to love all the Canucks fans laughing at Snow. How's your situation going again?

Gave up nothing and the Oilers received nothing are 2 different things. Had the Oilers drafted Paccioretti or Perron you would feel differently. And yes...the Vanek trade was pretty bad. Fortunately, I think the Isles will make the playoff's and the lost pick won't be as painful, but you're still putting lip stick on a pig.
