I don't know how much longer it's going to take the "higher ups" in the organization to realize we need a franchise QB.

Tough to draft that guy when they finish where they always finish. Team needs to bottom out, and I don't see that happening anytime soon. They've got too much talent right now to bottom out.

San Franciso drafts Alex Smith 1st overall and he eventually gets replaced by a 2nd rounder.

Go figure

Out of all the teams in the nhl which team do you think has the worst plan for their teams short term and long term future?

Carolina for me. I just think that organization has been horrendously mis managed since they last won the cup. Aside from that conf final run in 09 i believe, they've been dreadful and neither their NHL team nor their prospect pool shows me enough that they could be a real threat.

Oh and apparently we've got some major announcement tomorrow at 1, possibly 2016 draft.

A bit unfortunate because my hope is that if everything goes well we probably won't have a 1st round pick in that one.

Edit:

NVM, scouting combine apparently being moved to Buff

Not sure any of these can be the answer. I don't think they even have a plan in those cities

Yeah Vancouver was too public about their moves. Not sure what Washington or Toronto want to do.

Carolina's weird to me bcz on paper they have a good foward group yet they struggle.

When I see Carolina, Washington, Toronto and Vancouver.....I see the post 2007-2013 Sabres. Trying to make the run to 8th instead of building for a cup

I give Washington an exemption because I'm relatively impressed with the young players they have in their system. Depending on how they use their assets they may not be far off.

And Im of the belief that if Vancouver could, they would rebuild. Problem is any player that's worth anything has a NTC that's killing his value. Basically have no choice but to go for it.

Imagine for a second if the Sedins, Edler and Kesler didn't have those clauses. The return they got from that and tanking in 2015 could actually complete a successful 1 year rebuild, (frank)ing gillis

To me they're the embodiment of average. There's talent at the NHL level, but clearly not enough. Ditto the prospect pool, which means they can't really make a big splash and go for it. Wouldn't shock me if the Staals were on the block early in the season, Canes are my pick to go all in for McDavid.

The only thing about Toronto is that they should have beaten boston the year boston won the cup last. Up 3 goals in the 3rd in game 7. It's weird bc they seem like they are a cut below yet they almost beat the Stanley cup champs that year. Washington might be the worst run organization.

The Orpik deal, and Erat trade are two of the weirdest and worst moves I have ever seen a franchise make.

Boston lost the cup to Chicago that year.

Toronto was lucky to be in the series to begin with if memory serves. Didn't they get a few lucky breaks in the first couple games?

Can't defend the Erat, not sure what was on McPhee's mind.

Orpik's contract is terrible, no question and you could say the same for Niskanen. However despite that, short term there defence got significantly better and they've still got assets. It's not perfect but it's not as dire as say the nucks canes or leafs.

It's hard for me to put my finger on what it is that is soo awful about them. Yes their defense is terrible but they play a team game.

I actually thought they were alright in that series but it was a while ago. But luck is what you have to rely on if Tyler Bozak is your number 1 centre.

What are they going for though? It's not like they are better than Pitt or BOS. They have a short window, and teams like CBJ and TB are quickly getting much better.

Seems to me like they are just fighting to stay relevant

Let me put it this way.

I like Andrej Sekera, I think he's a solid defensemen who may have had his gaffs but was under appreciated here.

I also liked Gerbe here and thought he wasn't given much of a fair shot either (although he didn't help himself with the injuries).

While I think they're both solid players, Sekera is playing top pairing minutes for Carolina and Gerbe is in their top six. If you want to be a competitive team, neither of these should ever happen.

I think if they could pull of one big trade they could at the very least get themselves in the conversation as a sleeper.

I'd like their chances a lot more if they could add a very good top six winger. Fehr and Brouwer won't cut it.

Defense & goaltending have been mediocre
They do have some nice young talent though
