It's simple, it's just not necessary. Pegula is the one with the $$$ and that's all that matters. He needs to go it alone on his own terms. If he chooses to give him a position later on, so be it. Right now it's not necessary for him to join forces with anyone.
- sippyd

Not suggesting the joining of forces in any way . Pegula is the man , no doubt . Would not hurt to put Jim on his team in some capacity . Not saying he should be involved in decision making process.. If Jim's ego does not allow him to be involved in that sort of role . Than Pegula walks away from him. . Hate to see any other group get the team over Pegula because they had somehow involved Kelly.

That is all I have been saying all along.. I have no idea if he could be involved in the actual running of the team . Has he ever done anything in any capacity off the field ?
- Maximum Signal

But what I think the counterpoint was that Kelly has an ego, and he might want to be a part of making decisions.

Problem is Pegula has done this before and it sort of backfired.

LaFontaine was one of the better players in Sabre history and after 2 months didn't want to be a part of the Sabres anymore. Maybe just leaving Kelly where he is would be the better thing to do

Yea, this offense should be designed for the playmakers like Spiller, Watkins, Goodwin and Williams. With Jackson and Woods being key 3rd down players.

It just seemed Hackett was clueless on a few occasions last season as well. I guess we will see what happens

- sbroads24

I think he was clueless, but I think we'll see more this season, mainly because of the weapons you mentioned...could be a fun year on offense

Kelly doesn't matter. Pegula will outbid anyone. He doesn't need Kelly.

And what we've been saying is that judging by his character in the past, we don't think he'd be willing to take that. Unless his demeanor has completely changed, and acts in a way completely inconsistent with his past, he's going to want a say in football matters.

If he does not . So be it . But you can say you offered him something . I see nothing Kelly's resume to suggest he is qualified to run a franchise at this time. How can anyone say how Kelly will respond till it happens?

I think the disconnect here is that some people here believe that saying that guys like Jim Kelly had an ego is somehow an assassination of his character. It isn't. Jim Kelly's ego is what made him a Hall of Fame Quarterback. His attitude and demeanor makes him suited very well for certain roles but not others. It was great for when he played the game. However, someone of that personality rarely makes a really good front office guy, at least not a championship caliber one.

I'm concerned with Hackett also. Looking at Marrone's body language last night, starting to think he feels the same way! EJ has potential still, but the Arena QB's has backups is deplorable!

There is no way this team shouldn't have drafted a QB in this years draft! Would have loved Mettenburger from LSU (some of you know I have been saying this).

I know it's pre season, check out his stats from Friday night!

Yeah, I could've been wrong, but I thought I saw a bit of a heated exchange between the two at one point. Was glad to see it. But now it's not the time to fire coaches. Hopefully Hackett just wtfu.

We should have signed Vick IMO.

Granted he's on the downswing but he can run and throw a deep ball

Well, they have to sh!t or get off the pot, as far as that's concerned. Need to get a new guy in the last couple preseason games.

I'd be fine with Ponder, although he's not really much better than Thaddeus, statistically. What do the Vikes want?

Nothing he will get cut IMO.

Problem is that Lewis vs. Anyone that has to come in and learn the playbook probably gives Lewis an advantage

I don't know how much longer it's going to take the "higher ups" in the organization to realize we need a franchise QB.

Well it seems that drafted EJ with that in mind
I like his athleticism, good arm... But the accuracy worries me. That's tough to fix...
He hasn't even played a full season yet, so I'm not gonna write him off just yet
Hopefully he can at least develop into a decent QB for us
Its been quite a while since we've even had that
