I think it was a game-tying goal late in the game but yeah, it was against Florida.

For sure... I think the tactical pendulum is about to swing toward another higher-scoring era, though.

Based on what? Unless they increase the net size or severely limit goalie pad size and eliminate butterfly goalies, I don't see it.

How is silverberg worth 850k on a one year deal? 23 pts in 52 games last year. I'm guessing anaheim has leverage in that the guy is always hurt. But the guy is very productive when healthy. What a deal for the ducks

I like this guy. Watched him play against the Flyers when he was with Ottawa a year or so ago. Very talented player with the puck

I agree. I saw the Richards shift and the Forsberg "Magnet" shift live, and I'll take Richards. Not the best puckhandling display, but it's up there.

One that isn't mentioned is Giroux's SHA in the 2008 playoffs, Gam3. Flyers were up 2-0 and Pittsburgh tied it 2-2. Pittsburgh had a PP. The Flyers cleared the puck and Giroux raced down and took the puck away from Gonchar. He went around the back of the net, stopped, and then reversed back the other way and fed a pass through 2 players to Gagne for a SHG. The hustle, stickhandling, and passing were all top-notch.

Definitely remember this effort but it also brings back a bad memory. Totally unrelated but same type of situation, against the same team. Gagne's shorty getting waved off that was obviously a goal!

There was one shift Lindros controlled the boards for.... hell it felt like forever... without his stick. Also one time he kicked a pass to LeClair for a goal.

Agreed, with the advent of advancd stats and even more focus put on possession, I'd argue we're more likely to see lower scores rather than higher ones.

Absolutely, also... whether the pads are bigger or not... the goalies are far better positionally and technique wise than back in the day. Gretzky and Lemieux would never put those kind of points up in this era. Id say at best they would be around what Crosby is doing.

Also humungous big goalies compared to 80's-90's goalies.

They'd be better, because they were the two best players of all time. If the top scorers are putting up 100-110, they'd be putting up 130-140. They were just so much better than everyone else it wasn't even close. I think they won like 14 scoring titles in a row between them, sandwiched in between Dionne (who Gretzkt tied) in 79/80 and Jagr in 94/95

Most importantly, where will Hayes end up on this list after his inevitable singing with the Flyers?

N/A, as he'll be traded after signing a long-term extension and win 2 Cups in 3 years.

They may be better, but who knows by how much.... I will agree that there is not one player right now that compares to anyone from the 80's and 90's. Dont say Crosby.....

It's certainly an interesting debate. I believe they would still put up more points than anyone in the league today, but some of the records Gretzky has like most goals in a season and assists in a season would not be the same in today's game. Just my opinion

Yep. Goalies today are athletes who CHOSE that position because they enjoy and embrace the pressure, not just the guy who had to put on the stupid looking equipment because he couldn't skate worth a poop.

Crosby is the best player currently. But he would be a distant 3rd to them in terms of scoring.
