the oilers could have won the cup last year but it wouldnt have made a difference if you are ranking the sens above the leafs. it's okay man, not everyone can be knowledgeable about hockey. some people actually know what their talking about, while others like yourself just turn on their XBOX and simulate a season in nhl 14 to see how good teams are.
- sensnucksnocups

Yeah I actually had a bit of a hard time after Philly and Washington...I can see the Leafs finishing ahead of the Sens, and maybe Carolina and Jersey too...but I don't think it matters too much. Clearly a sore spot.

You seem upset. Are you compensating for something?

I agree with most of this but I found those two a bit puzzling, not a big believer in NYR?

Edit: I'd say Philly's a bit low as well but I say that every year so what do I know

- Sabresfan-365

NJ was screwed by shootouts (0-12), more luck there, losing Brodeur, n a sniper in Cammalleri to play with Jagr-Zajac will give them the push they need IMO. Top 5 possession team. Also a big believer in Schneider, think he's a top 5 goalie

Hard time placing NYR. Think they took too big of a blow in Richards, Stralman, Pouliot, Boyle.

Philly was kind of a fringe team last year n the moves they made were terrible. Hartnell>>>Umberger and Macdonald's an absolute anchor. One of the reasons I have NYI doing so much better is losing Macdonald. Also think Mason'll slip

I'm with you in thinking the Islanders will make it. They are way better than they were in lock out year IMO....last year was just a bad season, I think, Tavares injury, Vanek circus, etc.

Forgot about that

I guess I'm sort of banking on one of Philly's young guys having a major break out year kind of like Voracek last year.

I'll be interested in seeing how NYR does without those guys but most of that core is still there. I'd personally have them a bit higher but I see the merit in why other wouldn't rank them as high as I would.

Goalie will make the biggest difference for them IMO

Not a big fan of their depth, but barring any significant injuries, they should contend for a spot.

like EDM their goaltending last year was just so piss poor. Halak-Johnson is solid. Grabo+Kulemin added. Nelson, Strome, n Lee more developed. Their D is underrated too. De Haan-Hamonic is solid

I don't spectacular quality among their forwards (with the obvious exceptions)but they have depth.Defense might be an issue, but they all a year older which is good for all but Vis.

Yea should've been more specific but I was mainly thinking defence.

To me, goaltending will be the reason they make it, and coaching will be the reason they don't (but i suspect he's got a very short leash going into this season).

I've got a gut feeling NJ n NYI make it so wasn't sure who'd make it of NYR n MTL. Don't know quite as much about the east n don't know how some teams'll do under new coaches.

Like Washington for example under Trotz n their new additions. Say what you will about how badly they overpaid Orpik-Niskanen, their D is deep. Green-Carlson-Alzner-Niskanen-Orpik-Orlov..?

My team is not very good. Has zero impact on my knowledge. Your team is slightly better. Has zero impact on your knowledge. I admire the fact that you have faith in your team though, although it may be a bit displaced.
- Jeropotato

A little displaced? He calls the Leafs a contender. And then he has the balls to say someone else doesn't have hockey knowledge. Not too mention his arguments are hypothetical extremes. He's not very good St trolling. And yeah you bet I'm planning a parade through his home town if/when the Sens place better.

So...when the Oilers finally do make the playoff's, as fans, do we collectively get a little smarter?

They make them better on D no question despite the ridiculous contracts they have. My biggest concern with them would be depth at wing. Past the 1st line, I don't have high hopes for guys like Brouwer and Fehr as top 6 forwards.

I expect a bounce back from Anderson/Lehner that'll compensate for Spezza leaving. OTT did just finish ahead of TOR.

Again I see instead of adding anything to the discussion you went way off topic to somewhere you thrive, lifeless insults

That's true, I'll be curious to see if they buy in to his system. The contrast in coaching styles in DC over the last few years is nuts.

Boudreau-Hunter-Oates-Trotz, not an easy transition.

No sh!t. Kinda have to wonder, if it doesn't work out this year with Trotz, if the Caps look at making major changes.
