and it's also possible that if the flyers never traded him to toronto, they don't win the cups either, as he was coached by plante and improved his game. if he stayed, maybe he wouldn't have become good enough to lead them to the cups on his own.

If they win the Cup this year, it's no thanks to Giroux, Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek, Couturier, Read, Akeson, Umberger, Couturier, Rinaldo, Raffl, Laughton, Rosehill, White, Coburn, Streit, Grossmann, Schenn, MacDonald, Del Zotto, Schultz, Mason, and Emery because they are all overrated.

Some of those players were acquired by Holmgren. And we all know he left the team in shambles.

For one? Geez. What can you buy for a single penny these days?
- PLindbergh31

I think pennies aren't worth the material they're made from. Money is funny.

It costs almost two cents to make a single penny.

They have broke ground on the location where the Holmgren statue will be erected.

During the dedication, he's going to pop out of the port a potty like Clark Kent.

yes, it most certainly is.

i've been asked this question before: "if you could win the lottery or the flyers win the cup, which would you choose?" what do you think my answer was?

I hope it's the lottery and it's millions of dollars. You could retire, go to every practice and home game then fly out to the away games.

They'd have to promise me 5 straight cups just to consider it then in yr 6 I'd be kicking myself because I still have a mortgage, a job and a wife and the team would be back to losing.

Great job Bill!

Clarke was simply the hardest working player I ever saw in any sport. If it came down to needing one goal on one shift, Clarke's the guy I want on the ice because simehow, some way, he would get the job done.

As Ive said before, if every current Flyer worked as hard as Clarke did, they'd be a cup favorite for sure!

i would hope you wouldn't have a mortgage after winning the lottery...or a job, unless you wanted one. the wife is another matter.

money comes and goes. it guarantees very little. a cup is forever, and i've never seen the flyers win one, as i was only 2 and 3 years old back then. i will take the cup.

Yeah.. I love hockey, and I love the Flyers.. But no way in hell I turn down money(mortgage, house remodeling, school loans, bills, etc) in favor of a Flyers cup (which has zero affect on my life, other than entertainment)... Unless we're talking about <$1000.. then I'd take the cup... but anything over, I'm going for the money...
