OH yeah... because speaking a minimum key phrases in French when being the Captain of the Montreal Canadiens is so hard...

The real disgrace was Having a player/Captain not being able to say Bonjour and Merci after living in this city after all these years.

It's called having a minimum of respect for the fans.

I kinda agree with Waterboy.

Hell even Subban keeps saying some nonsense in french from time to time and people just (frank)ing love it.

Koivu could have made a little effort here and there and the idiots would have dropped the issue.

This being said, the way they kept bringing it up and blaming him for it was stupid and abusive.

i think the whole "respect for the fans" thing is a bit naive. these guys don't give a poop about us any more than we give a poop about them. we boo them, curse them, etc. where's the respect in that? Joe Sakic couldn't speak French and he was the captain in a city that is far more French than Montreal.

did he really never say anything in French? this is a guy fluent in 3 languages. i find it hard to believe he didn't drop a please and thank you in French, ever.
