I've been going to Jets games since 1972 ... there were some glory years in the outlaw league ... turning to the NHL 80's and looking at are best players then - how did we get them ?
Hawerchuk - draft ... Mullen - draft ... Selanne - draft ... Tkachuk - draft ... Zhamnov (depending on the night this guy was brilliant) - draft ... Khabibulin (yes he was real good early on) - draft
After the Jets return - how did we get our most promising players ?
Schiefele - draft ... Trouba (this guy played lots of minutes and tough minutes) - draft ... Morrissey has been tearing it up in Junior then, late in the year, the A - - draft ... Ehlers ? (who knows yet) - draft
The rest of the guys we inherited ... who said 'free agency time is when GM's make their biggest mistakes ?'
Net: I don't have the answer - everyday I check to see if the Jets have made a trade - why ? ... cause we think that's the way to improve ... we get anxious by what we view as INACTION
I say dangle Kane and Bogosian - if the return is in our favour then nail it ! ... if not, stay the course
Wouldn't trade any of Byfuglien, Ladd, Little, Frolick unless we get the team far more stacked with talent (so I agree with the 'core' scenario) ... the young guys drafted in Winnipeg - we keep

You forgot to mention gems like Jim Kyte, Bobby Dollas, Ryan Stewart, Sergei Bautin, and Mats Lindgren.
And don't forget the Jets traded for the Keith Tkachuk pick when they traded Dale Hawerchuk to acquire that pick and Phil Housley.
Remember for one Dale Hawerchuk, there is always a Jim Kyte flying somewhere in the wind!
