3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th, imo.

While I hope this is the case, I don't see their pick being that low. I see it likely around the 10-15 range. Unless Halak goes down with Tavares and maybe even Okposo, it seems unlikely they will be as bad as last year.

Yes, I am accounting for the fact they weren't much better with Tavares in before the Olympics, but Halak on the back end helps a lot.

The west is gonna own the east again and the islanders are in the bottom 3 of the metro. IMO goalies are more a symptom of the team ahead of them.

That's a great point. I am not getting my hopes up, because usually when I do things fall right on my face. Tavares has the ability to make the team better. They still have plenty of question marks, but having a guy like Tavares doesn't hurt.

I think they are a ok team in a tough division. They might win more but Tavares and the boys are not committed to playing defense.

They definitely have their backs against the wall, that's for sure.

I'm not even sure Tavares is a top 5 foward in the metro.

Great point...

Which makes me wonder why Miller struggled so much in front of St. Louis....

Back to goalies, quick question for all.

Who do you like out of the goalie mess? Enroth? Lieuwen? Hackett? Makarov?

I really like Hackett. Kind of a headcase... I think the good goalies are a little crazy, once they learn to harness it..

I think Nuevirth has a chance to be pretty good. He has the talent. Injuries sort of derailed him.

He was part of Washington's future until Holtby played great in the playoffs, and then they added Halak to try and sneak in. Buffalo is a perfect place for him to find his game (IF he has it)

Pretty sure he was doing great until the team got heavily injured.

Not including Enroth or Neuvirth, I like Makarov and Ullmark.

Edit: I just realized I quoted you twice separately.

They added some pieces but lost Moulson. I also don't think Halak will significantly increase their wins.

Lulz.. I TOTALLY forgot about Nuevirth! He could be good. Real good. But, there is something about the whack job Hackett that I like...

St. Louis injured was still better than Buffalo last season, and Miller was standing on his head... I don't buy that

Maybe the LACK of rubber hitting him?

I like what the Islanders did.. That pick, IMO, is not in the top 10, barring any significant injury. They have little depth, so they cannot afford a long term injury to one of their key pieces

Lots of "locals" posting lately.

You, saw a guy from Myrtle Beach I believe...good stuff.

Yeah, born in Buffalo, moved down here to NC 8 years ago. Thank god for the Center Ice package. Love going to Canes games here when the sabres are in town. Turns into FNC South here. Makes me feel at home, at least for a few hours.

Haven't been home in 6 years. Need to check out the improvements the Pegulas have done downtown. That HarborCenter, upgrades to FNC, etc.. Exciting times.

All I know is, if you let Toews have a breakaway in the beginning of a playoff OT, you're gonna have a bad time. The West is also tougher.

IMO Hackett looks way out of place when playing in the NHL. Just looks uncomfortable, out of position a lot, too many holes. I guess I'm not convinced. I think Makarov will end up being better than Hackett, and neither of them will be as good as Enroth (also not a true NHL goalie).

I don't think the goalie of the future is on the team right now. I also think that the team is best served by sticking to an average tender and filling the team up around him.

I think out of all prospects it's up to Lieuwen or Ullmark.

Thanks for those. McNabb is definitely at the point in his career where he needs to play in the NHL and either become a player or not. Im pretty sure the guy can play at the NHL level....not elite, but he can play. Especially on a team like the Kings. Deslauriers story is good. I actually like to hear about players adjusting to the pro game rather than sulking because they dont get 30 minutes a game and PP Duty because they showed up on time. It seems like our GM is trying to build an entire team of players who have worked through adversity at least once in their career...

I've been out of Buffalo for almost 20 years, though 5 of that was in Rochester. Been here in SC for almost 12 years now. Never been to a game in Raleigh. I did go to a Sabres game in Buffalo in February though - first time going home in the winter since I've moved down south.
