I was never a Dion fan, but to let Bailey go and actually land a defenseman, I'd actually be willing to give him a shot. As long as it was nothing more than Bailey and a 2nd. - Dedshark
Dion is good but not great and I'll only take him w/the expense of Bailey bc I think his salary & contract are not worth it unless Isles can exchange Bailey in a deal.
My only issue w/Phaneuf will be the last 2-3yrs of contract when he starts becoming 34 and slowing down w/$7M left... ugh |

I really think phaneuf would be a good fit with us. Im in the minority I know but I like bailey. Guess im still hanging onto the hope he finds some consistency. With that said i may do that trade. Phaneuf would be a huge help on our blue line imo. - Cptmjl
I totally agree, but I will only take him w/the exchange of Bailey |

I don't see why the Leafs would trade their best d man for a forward that barely puts up more points then Dion does. |

If we trade Dion we better get something better than that in return. |

I just think it has to do w/the contract and length of it as well. Bailey is almost $3.5M cheaper every year w/4 years left in comparison to 6yrs left for Dion. Now there could be a slight addition to the trade like a Donovan or another minor piece if you get my point? But I would think that some type of salary exchange will have to be made on any team trade, not just isles. |

the leafs aren't going to trade their #1 dman for pocket change
they don't view him as a salary dump right now |

With the contracts signed this summer for d men Dion 7 million cap hit really isn't out of the question and will look better as it goes. He will be 35/36 by the end of the contract which in todays NHL is not ancient like it once was. |

I never said they are dumping salary, nor do I think that it would be a salary dump. If they move Phaneuf its trying to help there roster and cap situation.
If Leafs were just dumping salary, they would of just traded him for picks.... |

i think his value is much better if they move him in a package with someone like kadri
they should have traded both those guys this past offseason |

I don't think he's a quitter I do think he has been getting tired towards the end of seasons and yeah Def not as physical as he once was which I don't understand. |

come on man, he's got the girl and now the contract
he's playing on a mediocre team, why not sit back and enjoy the monthly direct deposits? |
