I don't know if I'd go that far, bit he's solid defensively. My issue is "Two-Way" means offense, which for some reason nowadays gets forgotten.

Could it be possible that Kumi's numbers have dropped bc of lack of linemates? Bc sometimes when you play w/better players you seem to play better instead of playing w/garbage type players.

Grant it, I didn't watch enough Leafs games and solely watch Kumi play to notice any difference.

I know he is, I hoped not bc the Isles have to make room for some of the other kids who will be chomping at ice time next year plus having a full roster still signed next year as well.

I like him as a player n thought Leafs messed up on letting him go when you had no real replacement, if you get my point.

- Ur Not Me

meh, he was replaced easily for 1m by Raymond IMO

I don't think he's very good but he keeps putting up points. Leafs didn't and won't miss him - we have 3 more we just signed for about $1m again.

The Leafs had a lot of depth on the wing, so I guess they felt they didn't need a replacement. They had much bigger issues last season to worry about.
- RogerRoeper

What was the bigger issue? Plus who replaced him and what depth ? Bc the season hasn't started yet, I'm not updated right now on teams yet

Overall defensive play was a big issue. They had Kessel, JVR, Lupul, Kulemin, Clarkson on the wing. And they signed Raymond for cheap. Losing him wasn't a big deal given the depth they had.

I know by watching the Leafs play against isles, Kumi was a big body that was hard to try an move away from the boards & net..... for sure

if we could get some meanness out of Kule he could be very good. IMO

edit: might need to buy an Isles jersey - already have the Team Canada Tavares jersey

So let me get this straight: Brooks Orpik got 5.5 million, but Dion is worth 1 million+ less? LOL. You do know Dion led the NHL in QOC? He played the toughest minutes in the entire NHL. His career avg is over 40 points.

Dion is now so underrated.

- RogerRoeper

He's the best d man on one of the bottom 5 Defensive teams in the league. And he routinely gets skated around and burned by horrible pinches. You can have him. I don't need a qoc stay to tell me what my eyes can see in the games. He's a 2-3 D on 85% of the teams in the league. But if your happy than that's awesome. That's exactly what MLSE wants you to think when your paying the most for tickets and $17 glasses of beer, not pints.

Whats the point of that trade? Jesus Christ

Example of just how knowlegdable you really are

- Cptmjl

Yes I like saad and all but that trade literally has no effect on this team. We need defense. I read his proposal and shook my head.

Regarding Phaneuf:

From what I understand, the best offer the Leafs got at the draft was two 2nd rounders for him, and no retained salary. Leaf management wants more obviously, but how much more?

- The Shrike

The islanders offered a 2nd rounder to the leafs at the draft. They won't give up more and leafs wont deal him for a second rounder.....so there's no deal here unless the islanders pony up more.

Garth Snow had a great offseason for us. Most of the non-HockeyBuzz NYI fans (the ones who can actually argue a point and now blow up over the internet) think Garth had an excellent summer and is a top 4 defenseman away from having a career summer for this team.

He addressed and added legitimate goaltending with Halak and Johnson
Solidified our top-9 by adding Grabovski and Kulemin
Increased competition at camp this fall by 10-fold...now Bailey, Grabner, and some of our youth realize they aren't shoe-ins for positions this year...they Khave to PROVE THEIR WORTH with the depth we have.

The only short-fall for Garth was addressing our defense. There still 2.5 months left for him to make a move and we have 26 players under 1-way contracts...something will happen during training camp/pre-season...

Lets relax on the NYI for the rest of the summer Ek...nothing will happen until September/October with them.

- kcNYI

Yes, Garth has adaquetely done his job THIS off-season and filled holes with better players than in past seasons. Would rather have seen defense addressed before adding 2 forwards(tho we needed salary to get to the floor) but I will patiently wait a little longer. We're still stuck with Cappy tho, so dont start making playoff shirts just yet.

I also think Bailey was included to help offset some salary bc Phaneuf has 2 more yrs at a much higher salary than Bales... If the Leafs didn't retain any $$$$

Did Snow really do his job or Wang finally allowed the checkbook to open up in our last season at Coli?

Subban makes 8.5m, he's got a great smile, teammates think he's a total knob.

He routinely gets gives away the puck with his fancy spinoramas

Better take a look in the mirror at your own team

Islanders have a lot of promise, but they still have a lot of work to do. You need to give up something to get something just remember that...

You're the dumb frank HockeyBuzz Variety hahaha I like LHH....I stay away from IPB.

Pretty high up on this pedestal...too bad you can't reach

Id bet anything that no move gets made for the NYI until camp opens. Book it E5

Are you kidding me with this crap? You sound like a middle schooler saying you buy your clothes from Abercrombie instead of old navy to look and sound popular. Shut up already. No one cares what websites you look at. Nor does it matter. We're all communicating on here aren't we? And your saad for nielsen trade doesn't help this team considering we need defense. There's no purpose to your proposal.

I was never a Dion fan, but to let Bailey go and actually land a defenseman, I'd actually be willing to give him a shot. As long as it was nothing more than Bailey and a 2nd.

I really think phaneuf would be a good fit with us. Im in the minority I know but I like bailey. Guess im still hanging onto the hope he finds some consistency. With that said i may do that trade. Phaneuf would be a huge help on our blue line imo.
