A really good defenseman? Don't kid yourself. The guy commits turnovers like Mike Weber. Guys worth a max of $4.5 mill a season. No more, no less. - Jammerz04
He'd be the best D-man on the Sabres by a country mile |

By extras I meant expendables...not the press box...
I agree we could use 2 top-4 defensemen but going in with adding just 1 would still get us into the playoffs...
deHaan - Hamonic
Boychuk - Hickey
Reinhart - Visnovsky
That looks pretty damn good. - kcNYI

Kulemin isn't a top 6 player bud. 3rd liner at best. Grabovski is an average 2nd liner. Don't get your hopes to high. Only real thing that's been really improved is the goaltending on your team. Defense is still a major problem. Offense will always be good with Okposo and Tavares. Also although goaltending was upgraded they've got a goalie who's never reached 30 wins in his career not even on a stacked, top defensive team like the Blues. - Jammerz04
Yet both would be on a line with moulson which would be your first line. Thanks for the warning about not getting our hopes too high when we are one too four away from being a very competitive team. We vastly improved already great depth up front as well as goaltending. For some reason you seem to think that will have little to no effect? |

Brennan signed to a one way no? - Cptmjl
Yes but I think he's a 6-7 defenseman and will suit up if Visnovsky gets hurt or can't play. Brennan will get every chance to be in the NHL next year |

You're the dumb frank HockeyBuzz Variety hahaha I like LHH....I stay away from IPB.
Pretty high up on this pedestal...too bad you can't reach
Id bet anything that no move gets made for the NYI until camp opens. Book it E5 - kcNYI
It could happen that way and a trade could happen tomorrow. Id like to think snow would try to get a player into camp not after. Btw. Im trying to stay as far away from that pedestal as possible. |

Sigh. I know everyone wants the best deal for their team but that trade is not going to happen. Saad is darn near untouchable at this point. The Hawks are not going to trade him AND a first for a 30 year old center. I'm not saying anything bad about your boy Nielsen. Just saying the Hawks really like Saad's potential.
And Leddy for Nielsen makes even less sense. It does nothing to help the Hawks cap situation. In fact, it makes it worse by $50k. In addition, the Hawks always carry 7-8 D-men. Moving Leddy for another forward puts them at 6 with no wiggle room to call up another d-man from Rockford. |

Saad has potential but hasnt found real consistency yet where you know what youre getting in nielsen. One of the leagues best two way forwards. I agree that trade is not happening why any islander fan would propose that is beyond me when we have 47 forwards and have a need for defense. Trading a forward for a forward at this point would be beyond stupid for this team. |

Only deal that really helps the Hawks is Sharp to the Senators for Smith and a pick or prospect. |

To continue...we have AMAZING depth upfront...most believe we're going into the season with...
Nelson - Tavares - Okposo
Strome - Grabovski - Kulemin
Lee - Nielsen - Grabner
Bailey - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
Extras: Conacher, Martin, McDonald
Frans Nielsen can easily center 20 other teams 2nd line with ease. Having him on the 3rd line is a blessing....he will play shutdown minutes and still produce 40-50 points.
Hamonic - deHaan
??? - Hickey
Reinhart - Visnovsky
This is where we need a top-4 defenseman. Hickey and Vis play very well together, but having Reinhart play with a solid veteran is a better idea. Plus with Vis getting older, its best to reduce his minutes and teach Reinhart and destroy the PP.
Hickey is a small puck mover so we need a sold shutdown, crease-clearer (ala Boychuk in Boston - whom which many NYI would like to see) - kcNYI
There is a need for 'ONE' top 4 defenseman?.. sure if Hickey was top 4. would have trouble playing every night on most teams |

In fairness, the best deal between both team cant happen bc of either cap space or not enough quality D willing to move. Lets not all pretend the woulda, coulda, shoulda when reality kicks in..... |
