Oh yeah. I thought he meant on the current roster. My bad.
- KGBflyers10

Well, the guy who was originally traded for Sbisa is on the Flyers current roster weirdly enough.

I find it funny that even in Bill's writeup Schenn is compared to Komisarek. I know Komisarek was a good dman at one point, but a top 5 pick on a Mike Komisarek?
- PhillySportsGuy

Komi was a 7th-overall himself...

Doubt you'll see lumbering defensive D go that high anymore... with most GM's finally realizing that those guys are relics.

What about Nick Schultz??? I haven't read anything about him since he signed... AHL, 7th defenseman, or does he crack the line up?
- leon neon

He'll be a semi-permanent resident of the Cote Suite.

Streit-Coburn
Grossmann-MacDonald
MDZ-Schenn

I'm not sure if Mac has played the right side much, but being over there might actually help him defend the zone better.

Man, I don't even know anymore. I've run through the combos so many times now.

The one thing that has to happen: Luke Schenn's gotta bring it, now. He flat-out has to bring it. Because while I hope MDZ can improve defensively, the odds are that he will be as weak as Meszaros was, at least at first, and Schenn's going to have to pick up some slack there.

Timonen being gone...man. MacDonald and Schenn flat-out have to raise their games. Because they're going to get some harder minutes this year -- Chief can't hide everybody, on every single pair.

I can remember reading stuff about Komisarek that compared him to Scott Stevens.

It's going to make camp pretty exciting. There are all sorts of possibilities with the forward lines as well.

And any player who comes in out of shape is going to stick out like a sore thumb.

I know that it happens and I know that people need to try to equate players with others that have come before, but damn, I wish people would stop doing that.

It's really not fair to the kids, most of all -- in any league, making it from your draft year to actually being a player...it's just so effing hard. There are going to be busts, guaranteed. And it doesn't help anyone when those kids have those labels.

I do agree with you, but that won't change. It's human nature at that point.

What REALLY helps no one is when a prospect is likened to Scott Stevens. Then, simply by association, the prospect can go (frank) himself too

I agree, that gets pretty annoying and just sets the kids up for failure. Just last year I think Seth Jones and Darnell Nurse were both compared to Chris Pronger. Both are great prospects, no doubt about it. But are they sure fire first ballot hall of famers? Who knows. You certainly can't give them that sort of expectation as 18 year olds.

Late in his career, when it was announced that he was suffering from concussion symptoms, I was happy.

Sorry, but if anyone ever deserved to suffer from a concussion, it's Scott Stevens!

You can thank Pavel Kubina for that.

And people say he never did anything for the Flyers.
