I know. I'm curious how it plays out.

Anyone hoping Hextall is gonna snap his fingers and *poof! FIXT* will probably end up disliking him in the short term.

- Hesh_

I do think he'll make a run at a LW next offseason but otherwise you're right. He's going to be patient.

Yeah, Lombardi was a punchline in LA just a few short years ago.

He's adding serviceable pieces without giving anything up. You have to like that.

He very well could. Lord knows Giroux needs a sniper to feed.

That being said, I think he adds a lil here and a piece there and tries to make a serious run in 3, 4, and 5 years. If its sitting for the taking sooner, hey maybe he goes for it. The East is wide open.

He doesn't have a whole lot to play with right now. Not many people want what we wanna give.

Besides, I think the biggest evidence will be how he drafts.

- Hesh_

And by "he" you mean Hextall?

I disagree because names like Giroux, Simmonds, Voracek, Couturier, Mason, Read, Del Zotto and the Schenn brothers are both building blocks and still young players themselves. Rebulding to me would suggest these guys are bound to be traded soon. Then you have Morin, Sanheim, Alt, Gostisbehere, Hagg and Stolarz all developing to play within the next three years. No need for a rebuild from a team still capable of making the playoffs on a regular basis. Hartnell had shortcoming in my opinion the team didn't like. Trading a player for a player of the same age and cap hit doesn't say rebuild to me.

All of those defensemen ARE a major part of the rebuild. That's what you're waiting for.

And those other guys are great, but where is your scoring wing depth?

Do you honestly think they're ready now?

They're not.

3 years when those defensemen are ready and money is off of the books. That's when they fill the team out. 2 if we're fortunate.

How much are you not looking forward to this season if they ride it out as is and none of the kids crack the lineup? I mean putting away angst over whether they're ready wouldn't it be more fun if a couple of them were?

I am not looking forward to watching what's on paper right now.

- mayorofangrytown

I'm interested because it's the Flyers. I think they could end up in the playoffs, but it's gonna be tough.

And I'm not talking about bottom of the barrell. They'll be good until then. Playoffs perhaps.

I'm talking serious Cup run in 3

BREAKING: The #Flyers have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with free agent C Ryan White.

- Jsaquella

Well they needed grit after losing Hartnell. I was hoping for skill and grit but it does At least it fills a need. And he can play the PK so hopefully G doesn't have to. Now to get rid of Rinaldo.

Yeah man, I thought they would just miss last season when it began and they surprised me by gutting out the last month and hanging onto a spot although I'm not sure in the East that was as much them as it was the dreck beneath them.

I'll be watching but I'll be more excited to watch if Laughton, Ghostisbehere or Morin start the season on the roster. Even if they don't when/if they earn the promotion I'll be more likely to be in front of the TV at puck drop.

The Flyers have publicly said they want to do a better job at puck possession and get more disciplined, yet just about every move they have made this summer is a step back in one or both of those areas.

I could see white being signed as a Phantom, though...it is a two way deal

- Jsaquella

White took 10 minors in 500 minutes; Rinaldo took 29 in slightly more.

If White replaces Rinaldo as Umberger is replacing Hartnell, then the Flyers got far more disciplined this summer.

He can also take faceoffs though limited data set:
4 Ryan White, C MTL 24 1 2 3 3 19 184 102 82 55.4
Took 184 in 24 games in 2012-2013 and won over 55% (just above briere)

Edit: those are weird ESPN numbers that make no sense the number reported elsewhere is 50.77. So he is decent at the dot.

White is decent penalty killer. When he's not the guy in the box...

Problem with him is he seems to find a way to take a dumb as (frank) penalty at the worst possible moment, that ends up costing the game.

Thank you, other thoughts on him? Does he win faceoffs or fights? Slow as he'll skater? Cheers

He's an ahl guy who will bring energy (god I hate that term) when he's asked to play in the nhl.

All heart, no brains if you will...

He's a depth guy. Nothing more. And by depth, I mean 4th line depth who will block shots on the pk when need be.
