The one against Kariya was the worst of the 3. Kariya clearly was without the puck for a good bit and Stevens still finished him off.

this hit infuriates me. i hate his (frank)ing face. i only wish someone had leveled him through the (frank)ing boards and sent him to the home. not enough karma with the puck injury to the head forcing his retirement. piece of (frank)ing poop.

Ulf Samuelsson on Neely
Hatcher (premeditated) on Roenick

Those 2 were the worst I've seen.

I still think I hafta go with the hit on Svoboda. That one really shook me up. I was screaming and throwing things at the screen when MacTavish started kneeing Bureau in the head afterwards.

The thing that got me was when the blood just all the sudden started pouring out of the side of his mouth.

Yep. My dad and I both thought we were watching a man die. There's already a pool of blood coming from his head, then it starts coming out of his mouth.

Princess Perry is an incredibly dirty player. I loved when Richards beat him up in juniors, and I was giddy when Datsyuk beat him up a few years back.

I read an article where Pronger was interviews post-concussion. He admitted that a lot of people thought he was a dirty player and, if they thought it was karma that he had that happen to him, he understood it. I really respected him for that.

That beating is on par with the McCarty on Lemieux beating. The refs couldn't stop MacT.

There's generational talents, and then there are legends. Those guys (and Howe) are pure legends. No one is on their level, but it's plain that Crosby is just on another level than everyone else right now.

Yeah. I don't know if you saw but Jmatch had said he bit his tongue.

My thing with the hands though...I don't know if you or anyone has seen this, but if there's an infant laying on his back (one where crawling is just starting to be part of the gameplan), and you toss the corner of a blanket or something over his face, his hands will instinctively shoot up. It's the brain/body's natural reaction to something really (frank)ing bad happening, and you can view it as one of the first reactions we learn. It's the only thing we can do as an infant, you know?

So when I see that happening to someone who's not an infant- reverting to that last ditch, desperate stage like that- it's just scary, man.

I remember being genuinely scared when I first saw all that blood coming out of Svoboda's head.

If Stevens were a bit bigger and heavier, a few of those guys he hit probably would have died. 6'0 215... seemed like he was 6'3 240.

Lucky for current NHL'ers that Rinaldo and Kronwall are small of body.

Actually, my daughter thinks it's the coolest thing in the world. You throw a blanket on her, and she starts giggling and grabbing at it. Not shooting her hands up, and grabbing it at twisting it. But I get what you're saying.

Kronwall's a good one. His hit on Havlat is just as dirt as any that Stevens ever threw. And his one of Jake is pretty bad, too.

For those who have never seen it:

Go to 1:20. It's so much worse than Stevens or Kariya.

macT will always have my respect for his response. i loved that (frank)ing team. and they should have won the gddamn cup. gddamnit.

Yeah. But The Hockey News ranked Karlsson 711st overall (and 29th among defensemen). At least I had him in my top 10

Imagine if we had Twitter during the Stevens era. He'd get death threats everyday of his life

Generational players should be defined as players who changed the game in such a way where they were head over heels better than everyone else, won numerous awards in consecutive seasons, and influenced tactics and strategy on the ice in such a way.
- KGBflyers10

I agree. In my lifetime, the only guys that meet that criteria are Orr, Gretzky and Lemieux. From what I've seen and read Doug Harvey, Gordie Howe, Jean Beliveau, Rocket Richard and perhaps Bobby Hull belong on the list.

Just below these guys are your perennial superstars: Denis Potvin, Bobby Clarke, Ray Bourque, Guy Lafleur, Joe Sakic, Jagr, Lindros, Lidstrom, Forsberg, Pronger, Crosby etc....
