The one against Kariya was the worst of the 3. Kariya clearly was without the puck for a good bit and Stevens still finished him off.

Yeah. I think we need a definition for 'generational talent'.
- PhillySportsGuy

I always thought of it as the guy who carries the banner of excellence for an entire decade worth of drafts... like nobody has come close to Crosby since 2004.

2014-? might be McDavid's decade, who knows.

Your d prospect timeline is unrealistic IMHO. The will get the 9 game try outs maybe but to be fixtures on the blue line playing serious minutes and altering a game is a while away. The prospecs have huge upside but to think they will make immediate impacts right away is unrealistic.
- 28Girouxsalem28

Perfectly realistic. Rookies make impacts on teams every year. Just because it hasn't happened for the Flyers in a while doesn't make it unrealistic. IMHO your 4 and 5 year projections are completely ridiculous.

Who's to say Ghostisbehere doesn't hit the NHL like Erik Karlsson?

Are we making MacKinnon a generational talent and comparing him to those other 3 after 1 season?
- jmatchett383

Looks that way

I define it loosely as:

generational talent (jen ur A shun ul TAL ent): n: a player whose skills separate him from the rest of the players in the league by a margin to which there is no denying that he is the best player in the league over a span of several years.

With Gretzky/Mario, they were the clear-cut 1 and 2 by a huge margin, yet they were near equals. That is why there were two generational talents. Orr was in a class of his own. Howe and Richard were in the same boat as Mario/Wayne. Crosby has been the best player in the NHL (when healthy) for about 4 years straight now.

Morin's going to hit the NHL like Pronger. Hard, and with elbows leading.

No one I guess. I just don't see it. It would be amazing but very unlikely.

Seems pretty clear with MDZ signing plus hex tall continuously saying he won't rush prospects and doesn't see any of them playing this season... The only prospect who is ready is Laughton and he isn't a d man.
- 28Girouxsalem28

He's never said once that he doesn't see any of them playing this season. He's always said the same thing, he won't rush prospects to the NHL they'll play when they're ready. He didn't say they wouldn't be ready this season.

Tell me how you know which prospects are ready and which prospects aren't before they even open camp?

Ty.

I think some people may view it differently. Others may view it as a guy who was the best player in the world for a few years. Guys like Foppa, Jagr and Lindros may match that description.

Then Kariya comes back and puts the Debbies away, so Stevens gets to (frank) himself a little bit sooner.

What a good moment.

I think Hexy would have more confidence in them if they beat out a guy like MDZ than Schultz. If they beat out Schultz, it doesn't necessarily mean they're ready for the NHL.

The NHL was a joke back then. He nailed a guy in the head who wasn't near the puck and got away with it.

Ready for what? I argue that Morin may be ready for top-6 duty, but he'd be better served (as would the team) by playing another year in the Q.

I agree. I don't need them sitting in the press box. They need to contribute regularly.

Was I the only person who actually thought Booth may have been dead when Richards hit him? The way his body hit the ice and just spiraled lifelessly was scary.

SO was the Bureau hit on Svoboda. I really did think Svoboda was dead.

Can he learn more in the Q playing 25 minutes or more in the NHL playing 18-20? That's if he's ready to handle that. Then we get to trade one of those middling defensemen we have too many of.
