They have zero choice. My wife is a music therapist, her mom is a retired music teacher. They are playing some kind of musical instrument. - Jsaquella
Good
Music therapist? That's awesome.
What kind of patients does she get? |

All sorts. She works at a state institution with severely disabled people, but also handles other cases of varying degrees. Her job is a lot more rewarding than anyone I know.

Now...when you say disabled...what do you mean exactly?
I guess what I'm asking is does she work with nursing home patients, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest patients, or Shutter Island patients?
Pardon my large probiscus, but I'm actually pretty interested in this |

It's based on what the patient responds to. There's one that loves hard rock & metal, another that responds to standards and 1940's & 50's singers, and others who respond to classical.
The higher functioning patients belong to a glee club and they do seasonal shows for other patients and family members. |

The ECHL weekly salary cap is $12,000 for a roster of about 20
Many of the players are are 1st through 3rd year pros fresh out of junior or college.
The way the teams are populated (roster) goes like this
ECHL teams sign about a dozen players, then their AHL affiliate has people under contract (maybe primary NHL affiliate draftees maybe not) who are AHL-ECHL. They split time like Flemming and some are AHL and emergency NHL call ups- depending on how they are contracted There may be about 2-3 players on the ECHL rosters are NHL draftees usually goalies and the off other player- twice cup winning goalie Jonathan Quick, and Reimer played in Reading during the affiliation
So many of these players are $400-$600 a week, plus free housing, medical in season and per diem for road games. They are very dependent on the booster clubs members who provide bags of stuff for road trips and sometimes there are dinners with the booster club or team events or just visits with the fans/boosters where they eat, LOL
These are young guys who eat a lot and burn a lot of calories.
A guy like Flemming on an AHL contract probably makes more, not sure about the split when hes down in the ECHL
Arturs Irbe was down with Johnstown years ago when he had a spat with Carolina and not sure how he counted against the ECHL cap with an NHL salary
I am a Royals STH and a supporter.
To be honest, you get a lot more personal contact with the players at this level and they are in the average community doing things and are not corporations yet. They are young guys trying to make it or have life experiences, not unlike young musicians playing the small venues!!!!
One thing hammarby and everyone who actually has played the game will find interesting
I asked an ECHL goalie who was at my table at one event about why people dont stand anyone else up at the blue line anymore- he said players will fight if they get checked at the blue line. Maybe you dont want to run someone when you are all making $400-$600 a week and move around a lot from team to team like these guys do. They are putting on a show and we all know some of the board hits are a lot more thunder than effect, just like a slapshot hitting the boards and people go OOOOOHHH.
But its a sad state of affairs when protecting your blue line like defensemen do even in amateur games has resulted in people fighting for a clean non harmful check. - Steelmanpa

It's amazing how many times my dmen do the ole~ and just get out of the way letting the puck carrier waltz in for a point blank shot. It's terrible.

That'd be nice if it were true, but I think the real reason is they're a bit lazy, don't want to get hurt and just don't care all that much if we win or lose.
