Grandpa down.

LTIR because post 35. Oof.
MDZ in for a decent cap hit. Not bad.

- Pixote Andolini

according to Bill, the over 35 doesnt count because he's on a 1 year deal.

He just makes bad reads. Isn't any good defensively.
He can play the power play but seriously you will see
he is awful, i mean awful at keeping the puck in the zone.
Lots of 2 on 1's on him. Of course he just will get benched
so you dont have to worry about that for too long.

- lileapers

Yeah, he sucks so bad that the Rags had him for 4 1/2 years.

3 other teams said the same about Stralman.

35+ isn't a factor with LTIR.

Well if he is only counted on for offense then maybe he can help you guys.

I hope he does well, he is young and can possibly get back to the form

from a few years ago.

- lileapers

Each of our defenseman are only counted on to do 1 thing. Without Timonen, this defense is made up of mostly one dimensional players.

Sounds like a disgruntled Ranger fan. If there's one area where Del Zotto can be effective. It's on the PP. He may have struggled recently. But he's still a talented offensive defenseman.
- MJL

Agreed!

Sometimes it takes many factors, the right team, system, partner, coach, etc,

Look at Stralman before he played in NY.

If Flyers sign Hayes, how would the cap hit work in regards to bonus'? Would bonus' just be counted as an overage if the team lacks the available cap space?

Yep, the definition of a 35+ deal is a player signed to a multi-year deal that was over 35 on June 30th of the year that the season begins in. Players signed to a one year deal do not fall under that.

He's still only 24, who knows why he was still out there?

Maybe his price was too high, until now?

Bonus cushion is in effect. If they can't fit the bonus in on this season's cap, it's carried onto next years cap as a penalty.

MDZ wouldnt be the first kid to hit some bumps in the road along the way. He is only 24, and the joker who said he has no speed, well he obviously doesnt actually watch any hockey.

Ok. Capgeek has them at $3M over right now without Laughton. They can definitely do some things to fit in a guy like Hayes.

If Timonen does return and Hayes signs here (wishful thinking), it could create problems with overages eating up cap space next season.

There were folks on this board that would have LOVED to get him from NYR when they traded him to Nashville.

He's no Timonen, but they won't ask him to be. If he keeps it simple and holds up his end of the bargain, he'll be fine.

That task of picking up Kimmo Timonen's slack is gonna fall to a combination of Streit and Coburn.

let's hope that MDZ gets his game together like mason did here. Flyers had few options here and prob picked the BPA. he's still young enuf at 24, so there's that.

All the best to blood and guts warrior Kimmo

Without Timonen, I feel like this team got worse this offseason.

I, also, feel they enter the season with more question marks than when they left last season.
