Yes, just like how Shea Weber was "available" in 2011. Not that Nashville had any intentions of shopping him, but they were listening to any offers if they could possibly make their team better. - jmatchett383
I think this is more likely. |

Well, for the right price...but yes, I think that the terms "available" and "shopped" are being confused here. - jmatchett383
I do not disagree. |

I got a defenseman. He plays big minutes. You're gonna love him. He's great. I love him. I don't know why I'm even trading him he's so valuable. you're fleecing me. |

Your argument is sad. You're just downplaying Coburn. Streit isn't better. Grossmann isn't better. Timonen can give him a run for his money but he's in clear decline. You want Luke Schenn to become more like Coburn then you do Grossmann or MacDonald. A guy like Derian Hatcher was very good throughout his career but wasn't an offensive juggernaut, still very well respected by Dallas and around the league. - SuperSchennBros
Please dont compare Coburn to Hatcher again. Hatcher was a beast in his prime. |

Coburn doesn't have the mean streak Hatcher did but Coburn doesn't need it. He has a perfectly balanced attitude in a different era of hockey. Coburn has the speed Hatcher never had. If Coburn played the Hatcher did today, he'd be suspended weekly. |

He looks like the kind of guy that takes upskirt shots in office buildings staircases.

Ok, all sarcasm aside. Are you telling me that if Coburn in some alternate universe was to take Hatchers position with the Stars, that he would have had the same impact or better than HATCHER? One of the best shutdown defenders of his era. An all-star, and olympic world cup champion, Stanley Cup Champion. Is that what you are saying? |

Given the chance to have Bobby Orr in his prime I'd still go with Coburn. |

No, not at all but I am wondering how you see Hatcher's value in his prime and not Coburn's.
Coburn isn't as good as Hatcher in prime but when you bring up the one Stanley Cup Hatcher he won to make your point, well even the average scrub can win a Cup if he's in the right situation. Shawn Thornton has two Cups and he isn't the best and most useful tough guy to ever play in recent years. Also Hatcher is American, while Coburn is Canadian. If Coburn were American, yes I believe Coburn would have a very good shot being an Olympian. |

Hatcher was a key piece to any team he has played on. Sooooo.
Name one defenseman you would take off of the USA Olympic roster in favor of Coburn. If Coburn was american that is. |

Look Coburn is solid but he is far from being a reliable 1st pairing d-man. His +/- proves it - GOA88
+/- is a team number, not an individual number. The Flyers were a mediocre 5 on 5 team. That has a lot to do with it. |

What is the likelyhood that happens? Seems the Flyers are in a bad place with the cap to me.
Edit: worse place - coffee junkie
Unless he has something against money, I'd say the chances are nil. They can still just put him on LTIR too and continue spending into "option 2". |

I said before it wasnt an end all, be all. But it is useful. For instance Pronger is a monster +/-. That is no mistake. |
