Weber is considered great is he not? I wasnt referring to Coburn, nobody would call him great. I just dont agree with your assessment that he is our best defenseman. He is average. Streit being our best OFF D-man and Grossmann being our best DEF D-man. Coburn screws up far too much - GOA88
Coburn eats the most minutes of ice time on the team. He's likely to start in most if not all of the defensive zone situation ( Pk, defending a lead). He's got great speed for a guy his size. One of the more stronger defenseman we have. Good with the puck regardless of offensive numbers (because he's a freaking defenseman). He's always healthy. He's without question our best defenseman. He's the most reliable defenseman we have. |

It may be, but it's true.
Coburn is a solid if unspectacular supplemental top-pairing player, or a solid if unspectacular #3 defenseman. Seeing as we lack a top-pairing player or a player more well-rounded than him, he is our de facto #1. For better or worse. |

I understand that. It just hurts. Not his fault I guess. He is just relied upon too heavily. |

No one is saying Braydon Coburn is the second coming of Raymond Bourque.
However, if you think Braydon Coburn isn't a guy who would be coveted around the league, were he made available in trade, I think you might want to re-evaluate Cobie's game. |

He is available. Has been available. Nobody is offereing anything good enough in return. Maybe the Flyers overvalue Coby? |

I don't think he's been made available.
I think other teams asked about him and the Flyers said no. That probably accounts for the rumors you read on sites like this one, for example. |

Your argument is sad. You're just downplaying Coburn. Streit isn't better. Grossmann isn't better. Timonen can give him a run for his money but he's in clear decline. You want Luke Schenn to become more like Coburn then you do Grossmann or MacDonald. A guy like Derian Hatcher was very good throughout his career but wasn't an offensive juggernaut, still very well respected by Dallas and around the league. |

He's not available anymore. He was last summer coming off an injury and bad season.
The Flyers can't afford to move him. His value to this team is far greater than his value on the open market. Not to mention he's a bargain at his current cap hit. |

Yes, just like how Shea Weber was "available" in 2011. Not that Nashville had any intentions of shopping him, but they were listening to any offers if they could possibly make their team better. |

You don't know for a fact Coburn is available. Our defense would be a lot worse without Coburn. A lot worse. We need him, so I wouldn't say he's available at all. |

Well, for the right price...but yes, I think that the terms "available" and "shopped" are being confused here. |
