Not sure. He's been alright, but hasn't had much help on the blue line. Things might be changing with the wave of kids on defense they drafted over the past few years.
I doubt he'll be anything special, but he might be a passable third pairing guy that would be a cheap stopgap.
for once there is an interesting crop of defense in the system. normally it has one or two forwards and a couple of tumbleweeds. - Hesh_
Yeah. It seems like you guys haven't had great D prospects in the system since Pitkanen/Seidenberg. |

amac only blocks shots because he can't take the body, can't tie up the stick, can't clear the zone and otherwise he's useless. He blocks a ton of shots because he causes a ton of turnovers and plays very passive defense.
expecting him to be solid defensively will lead to some terrible disappointment - Isles_since_6
He did that stuff in Philly last season. He did not have a good post season but during the time in Philly before the Playoffs he was a good solid defender. |

lol. no, there haven't been many.
we've got our fingers crossed with Morin, Hagg, Sanheim, and Gostisbehere. Gostisbehere put on quite a show in the Frozen Four, which happened to be in Philly, so of course Flyers fans are enamored with him. |

Actually, this is 4 good prospects, Hagg might be more of a long shot. But Morin and Gostisbehere will be ready in 2-3 years. |

I think security would tackle Crosby and remove him if he went streaking across the ice. That's not Del Zotto's job. |

Not that I wish blood clots on anyone, but Kimmo is the last guy that I would want to see have them. Just keep fighting my man. You got the City of Brotherly Love pulling for ya.
Not a huge MDZ fan, but I am not in favor of rushing anyone of the young D prospects up to the show. I hate to say this after hearing the news of Kimmo, but he is a 3rd paring D man now at this stage of his career. Leadership is going to be missed, but I don't think Flyer fans were asking this guy to set the world on fire either. |

I know! I'm not sure how to handle it! Ghost might only need 1 more year, but 2 would be safe. A lot of beat writers say he's ready as we speak, but I think his body size requires at least a year of getting accustomed to bigger players. He signed a deal, and will be in the AHL next season. |

So what is he good for?!
Why is he getting 5mil a year? it sounds like he shouldn't even be in the league. - ehabs9
and here is why Islander fans snickered when the Flyers gave him 30 mil |

I wouldn't streak across the ice in philly unless you want several thousand volts running through your system. |

when he was traded off of the Isle and they put a capable team in front of him, he thrived
then the playoffs happened |

If Timmonen is out for an extended period, how is it going to affect the cap? He is +35. Does that mean he stays on the cap no matter the situation of his health or playing status? |

good question.
Pronger comes off of the cap, if that helps. He just stays on the cap until the very end of the off-season, and then they get relief. It's why Philly doesn't technically need to shed cap, although it could certainly do them some good.
Perhaps Kimmo would be the same concept? |

when he first showed up to play for the Isles we thought we had a steady defensively sound player who could grow into a top 4 role. Give him time, he'll show you he's a solid scratch - Isles_since_6
maybe
but so far he's worked fine after his change of scenery (sans the Rangers series ), so I'm just gonna go ahead and cautiously wait for it to crumble. |

I don't believe there are any limits on ltir...could be wrong.
if no limits I think it should be the same as pronger. |

Flyers are going to have to do a big deal to get a Dman. This is starting to look really ugly! |
