The NHL stated that the Islanders broke no rules in trading for Thomas. I dont know if you know this or not.. Bettman considers Wang a good owner for the league. Only way Wang is giving up ownership of this team is through sale or Death & even with death.. then its his Kid's team. Hes' not selling.

Yes he has. If the Devils can be punished for cap circumvention with the Kovalchuk deal, then what do you call the trading for a retired goalie just to reach the cap basement? For several years, the Islanders have have actually paid below the salary cap basement because those are the type of deals Wang likes....Get a Viz whose cap hit is actually 2 million more per season than what he actually gets paid. If the nhl has anything close to the "best interests" clause that mlb has, they can get rid of Wang.

How are they not? The Kovlachuk deal was a deliberate attempt to circumvent the cap and the Islanders do whatever they can to get to the cap basement but don't actually pay the cap basement. The Viz contract, backloading KO & Bailey's contract, the Thomas retired contract.

As for the comment before about Bettman thinking Wang is a good owner...not anymore. It was pretty clear in his comments and now lack of them that Bettman doesn't want to comment on Wang's attempts to sell the team. The nhl would LOOOOVE to have Baroway own this team.

Kovy deal broke the rules, not a single deal done by the Islanders has broken any NHL rules.. so nope not the same in any way shape or form.

Just a little FYI for ya, Bettman loves what Wang brings to the NHL and his efforts to promote the sport and the league over seas.

As for Baroway love... the league would love anyone that can own a team, Baroway however needs lots of investors to get a deal done.
