Border Collies are the answer. When they show up here for the winter, I'll viddy mine terrorizing them. One 40 lb dog versus a thousand Canadian Geese. Amazing to say the least.

Love him in To Have and Have Not.

Say, was you ever bit by a dead bee?

Bacall's first movie - outrageously beautiful and sexy.

"You know you don't have to act with me, Steve. You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow."

Didn't she give Bogey a silver whistle on their wedding day?

And apparently, when he died, she put the whistle in his urn of ashes.

Staying on the topic of all thing Bogart. I always enjoyed the camera work on The Maltese Falcon that made it appear that Bogy was the same height as Ward Bond.

At least they didn't put Mary Astor in a trench - like they did Veronica Lake with Alan Ladd.

First movie for Sidney Greenstreet - and 90% of the dialogue in the movie was straight from the novel.

Bogart made an amazing number of great classic movies in a short period of time as a star - only about 20 years.

Ahhhh the fat man. Gutman I believe was the character's name. The Falcon was a rare bird indeed. The Bogart version is one of the few remakes that IS the better version.

If you every get out to San Fran, look for the plaque that marks the spot where Brigid O'Shaughnessy did in Miles Archer.

Yes, Fatman - and the Gunsel - Wilmer - gunsel is a Yiddish term for Little Goose, MAY have been a euphemism for a homosexual (his relationship with Cairo is more pronounced in the book, but shows up in the movie in the scene in Spade's apartment, waiting for the bird). The censors didn't know that; Hammett, who had a long time affair with Lillian Hellman, did.

The movie was made twice before - terrible both times.

Just because Joel Cairo smelled of lilac..It being Joel and Wilmer shows up in the precensorship 1st version. Screened the two earlier version via Netflix.

How is Backes any different than him? Goon squad. That is funny.

He deserved it.

You realize you are have a huge double standard, right? Tell me when Backes has knocked someone out on a bad hit, then taunted him as he is getting up? Who is the goon?

Let me answer that for you, neither.

- carcus

Backes' cheap shots are much more subtle, but no less dirty. And they happen continuously.

Seabrook's hit was payback for about a hundred less obvious cheap shots delivered the last couple of years.

Call it payback, with interest...and without the subtlety preferred by Backass.

That's when warm temperatures pull moisture from air and it appears on windows, cold bottles of beer, sh1t like that
- Jeropotato

Actually it's the cold bottle of beer that pulls moisture out of the warmer, moist air...provided that the temperature of the beer is at or below the dew point.
