Solid prospect but I've heard he doesn't have the speed to be NHL ready yet - probably get a few games and be so steady they won't be able to take him out of the lineup, kinda like how Gryba surprised everyone

i cant' even see them giving him games, unless it's at teh expense of ceci going down. the only other way it happens is if someone is put on waivers/traded in order to clear a roster spot...........or if there's an injury.

but as the roster stands right now, there is no way he even gets a look in the NHL this season.

What? They used 9 Dman last year, and 4 goalies. Limited time for some of them but still, I could easily see Claessen getting games next year.

Our depth is our best asset, don't have the depth at the high end 1-4 spots, but between 10-30 we are one of the better NHL clubs depth wise.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying he won't get some games....but with 8 d-men on the NHL roster already, the only way he does is if someone gets hurt or traded/waived. there isn't a roster spot for him right now, and given all the 1-way deals, there won't be one unless one of those 2 things happen.

you can only have 23 men on your roster at a time. 2 goalies + 13 forwards leaves 8 spots for d-men......so like i said, unless someone is hurt or moved off the roster, claesson isn't playing games in teh NHL.

that being said, i think he'll be the first call up if something does happen...........assuming he continues to develop as he has been.

Sdao is another guy Richardsson was really high on a couple of summers ago, apparently he's mean in nature, just likes to hurt people Pronger style, would love to see him in uniform laying some hurt down

I say option 2 is better, but change Michalek for Hoffman on the second line. Add some speed with Zibanijad and Chiasson.

Agreed, I think Hoff and Zibby will do some damage this year together and surprise people.

Starting line up is pretty straight forward here. Trades and injuries aside, MacArthur, Turris, Ryan, Michalek, Zibanejad, Legwand are making the team. The three players next in term of $ are Greening, Neil, and Smith. Together they make almost $6.5M; these aren't entry level players.

On a budget team - and their obvious experience level - this equates to 9 forward spots checked off. The last 3 spots are guys will battle for

Stone is almost guaranteed a spot. Condra is the only one left on a 1-way. Defensively the best forward. Offensively, one of the worst. PK quality mins. May have to play LW. Chaisson is very likely to play on the team. Wouldn't say he is healthy scratch protected. In fact, he isn't. Hoffman, imo, is the odd man out right now and has to out play 22, 90, and 61.

This doesn't even include Curtis Lazar, who if makes the teams, takes one of the spots from the above entry level players.

MacArthur - Turris - Ryan /// Greening - Smith - Neil should stay together

What do people think of these lines:

Michalek - Zibanejad - Ryan
MacArthur - Turris - Stone
Hoffman - Legwand - Chiasson
Greening - Smith - Neil

(could move Stone with Ryan and shift lines)

MacArthur -- Turris -- Stone/Chiasson
Michaelek -- Zibanejad -- Ryan
Hoffman -- Legwand -- Stone/Chiasson
Condra -- Smith -- Neil

Stone looked good on the 1st line at the end of the year, I would give him a chance there to start the year.
Put Ryan as the anchor on the 2nd line -- space out the fire power.
Trying to balance speed/scoring/posession
No room for Lazar at the Nhl level right now, he needs to first adapt to the Ahl.
No sense having him play 3rd line mins blocking shots etc on pk
Not sure why Greening/Philips/Neil are still on the team ($7mil/Year combined)
fan/gm/owner faves kept around to "make up" for the Alfredsson debacle??
Yes I understand leadership/grit. However I believe character is built during lean years.
I hope Cowen has a bounce back year, I don't understand the infinite leash he has
I hope Wiercioch gets the respect he deserves this year.
Pageau deserves a shot with decent line mates, he's been a good soldier and I wouldn't blame him for walking after this year is over, huge logjam down the middle.

And finally, Eugene is destroying this team. Enjoy your Ballard award you shrewd MF

Hoffman is a guy who could find awesome chemistry with Legwand, It'll be fun to watch pre-season and see who Chiasson and Legwand fit with. Last year we all thought Spezza and Ryan would be lighting people up, so wherever the chemistry will determine what type of team we have

This could be a fun year for both our clubs or a completely terrible year... I'm excited. Can't wait for hockey season to start.

i think more than any other teams....the leafs and sens are the two teams that you look at and say "it could really go either way"

if everything goes right, they could both be very good teams........and if not, well eichel and mcdavid could both be playing in ontario

How cool would it be if Sens and Leafs drafted 1-2? Man story lines for years right there eichel vs mcdavid

This draft is going to be really good, obviously I want my team to be good but if they're going to suck this is the year. It all depends on the young guys for the Leafs I think, Will Rielly Slump? Will Gardiner play like he did at the end of last season? Bernier going to regress? Can Kadri continue to get better? Ottawa has lots of players like that too. Can go either way

agreed. both teams have so much youth in key positions, that will either make or break their season.

Guessing on some chemistry working. Also need Cowen to step-up his game.

MacArthur -- Turris -- Chiasson
Hoffman -- Legwand -- Ryan
Michaelek -- Zibanejad -- Stone
Greening/Lazar -- Smith -- Condra

Cowen -- Karlsson
Methot -- Ceci
Weircioch -- Gryba

Lehner

I think it's almost harder to finish dead last in the league as it is to go the cup finals. Players have too much pride and personal stake on the line to throw games. Also leafs and sens are way better than teams like FLA, CAL, BUF.

I'm sorry to anyone that thinks otherwise but Phillips and Neil aren't going to be sitting out. Their the most experienced players on the team and make too much $ for Melynk to just let them sit out... I mean Maclean

I know I don't think either of our teams will be that low but top 10 picks aren't out of the question. This draft has lots of good forwards throughout the top 10 though.

Everyone keeps leaving out Peumple. I bet he is on the opening night roster. I bet Condra can kiss his job good bye and put on waivers before opening night.
- JS_19

I could see Puempel taking a roster spot away from Hoffman out of camp.
