Wang could have put a stop to things early on before they went anywhere. Charles wants someone to give him huge money will he gets to protect his people from being replaced by better hockey people. - ses111
I've heard nothing about Charles insisting on 'his people' being protected. I doubt that would stand in the way of $400 million. I think it likely deals more with:
A: Does he want to sell
B: What are the terms (payment timeline, ownershp percentages etc)
Look, love him or hate him, he's spent this year. He's never said the team is for sale but has insisted he would 'listen to serous offers'. Thats just like GM speak for we're not trading that guy, but we'll listen.
Naturally, Charles is willing to watch the smoke rise and bring in more potential bidders, but that doesn't mean he's actively searching for buyers. |

I thought there was talk on the board that Wang wanted to see the rebuild through and did not want Barroway coming in and replacing Garth? |

I think Botta may have reported that? I also read that somewhere else not sure where and whether it was a reliable source? It's definitely plausible. |

On THIS board? Look..unless it comes from Moulson's dog, I ain't buyin' it!
Like I said, I doubt any of that would stand in the way of $400mil. I think it would have to be timelines and terms that would hold things up but not based on saving Garth Snow.
Of course it could very well be that Barroway is walking away because Charles is focusing on another buyer. I know, for what he's worth, BD insinuated a while ago that there were two potential buyers and Barroway was not considered a serious candidate. |

This board only has the best information. Have to think Barroway got tired of dealing with a crazy person. I would never put anything past Charles. |

Well, this isn't like buying a car or boat. It's a pretty big transaction and I think the only way Barroway truly walks away in that situation is either:
A. Terms of the purchase were too demanding
B. non financial terms of purchase were unacceptable
C. Another buyer clearly was getting all the attention.
Anything else can either be endured or worked out. My guess is that he determined Charles wasn't totally committed to selling the Isles. |

If DP becomes a partner of owning this team this team is screwed for eternity. I think I would have to Brad Johnson to take him out back and rough up DP. Wang would be the most stupidest man alive if he did that |
