I'd be surprised if he scores 10 goals and plays higher than the third line, and that's if he doesn't get traded. If he got traded to say, calgary, he could score 15 and play in their top six.

My bet is he will get 12, then the Bailey defenders will say that he's figuring it out and he will break out in 2015-16.

If the choice was say, play Bailey or clutterbuck in the top 9, then I could see keeping Bailey. If it's Bailey or Lee? No question, I take the bigger body that drives to the net and shoots, and actually scored more goals in 22 games than Bailey did in 77. I was impressed with Lee's determination around the net in his first prospect scrimmage, and really think he's going to be at least a poor man's John Leclair. He may not ever score 30+, but I think in a top 9 role he could score 15-20 and in the top six he could top out at 25-30. he may end up being even better.

It wouldn't shock me if he puts it together for a long stretch, scores 20 goals and looks good out there on most shifts. I think I'd just rather put my money on Nielsen and Grabner helping the Isles more over the next five or so years, if it was down to trading one of the three before the season starts.

That said, I don't think we'd get a very good defenseman for Bailey, so it's probably more realistic it'll be one of the other two if a trade happens.

It will be criminal if Lee is not starting with the Isles. I can easily see Lee developing into a 25-30 goal guy.

I won't disagree with you, Bailey on his own is going to get us another project, not a good player. I don't dislike Bailey, but our top 9 should be the best players we can dress, and sending Lee to bridgeport (I expect he'd be the odd one out due to waivers and his contract) to me seems like it makes the team weaker. I don't see Bailey as a better player than him.

Could Bailey put it together? Absolutely he could, he's got talent, it's visible here and there, but the biggest problem he has is above the shoulders. 6 years is plenty of time to give him and I'd rather add size, skill and determination to the lineup than give Bailey yet another year to fumble around.

I agree, I feel he's earned it and been impressive with the few games he's had.

Unless he gives them a reason to doubt him in camp, I agree.

For Lee to do it without JT is very impressive.

Somebody is getting traded or these guys are really going to be fighting for a job. If no one is traded one of these kids on a two way contract is going to have to really stand out in camp for obvious reasons. Theres no way bailey gets sent down if hes still here. Im not saying its wrong or right its a numbers game at this point there's really no point in debating it. Expect a trade or hope Bailey finds some consistency.

Josh Bailey vs Anders Lee, "the complete" comparison, or "who has the edge"

shoots: lee
passes: bailey
hits: lee
drives to the net: lee
back checking: bailey (because he's never down deep or near the net)
heart: lee
contract: lee
age: lee (by less than a year)
goals: lee (last season totals, not projected..lol)
pk: bailey
pp: lee
potential: lee
not invisible on the ice: lee
looks more like a super hero: lee
works out with chains: bailey

I think I have it covered, anything I missed?

- Isles_since_6

I agree if lee looks great in camp he Should stay. Sending someone down bc he a two way is dumb. That is least of out problem. I'm going to be more aggravated when Colin MacDonald is on isles opening night roster.

I forget all about McD when I think of next season's roster

I think he should stick around as an extra forward on the NHL roster...put him in if someone gets hurt or someone starts taking their spot for granted.

agreed, colin needs to go as well. I can see using martin, cizikas and clutterbuck as the fourth line, with boulton used occasionally. No point in having mcdonald.

They can keep a couple of extra forwards and an extra d-man (or vice versa). I don't think Lee or Bailey would be well suited as a rarely used extra forward. McD fits that well. A player who should be ready to jump in and provide energy going full throttle when called upon. Need a few extras in case injuries happen, too.

well if we have a 23 man roster (and no trades) I'd prefer to carry 2 extra defensemen and one forward.

JT, KO, Nielson, Nelson, Strome, Grabner, Lee, Grabovski, Kulemin, Martin, Cizikas, Clutterbuck, Dehaan, Reinhart, Visnovsky, Hamonic, Hickey,Czuczman, Strait, Donovan Boulton, Halak, Johnson.

(colin mcdonald can go to bridgeport and be a callup if we need someone in the bottom six, although I'd be inclined to call up conacher first if it's an offensive player we needed.

You can bet that the players with one way deals are going to play with the big club at the very least early on. I dont like it but that's the way it'll probably be.

Unless there is a trade or injury, I don't see how Lee is making this team. The team IMO will look something like this:
Nelson JT KO
Kulemin Grabo Strome
Bailey Nielsen Grabner
Martin Cizikas Clutterbuck
Conacher Boulton

I think Lee should make the team but I don't think it is the worst thing in the world if he starts out in B-port. Injuries happen and he will without a doubt be the first forward called upon in case of injury or crappy play. It sucks but it most certainly is not the end of the world.

Plus if everyone stays healthy and is playing up to par, it gives us a trade chip for a D-man or a draft pick at the deadline or even earlier.

Recently Heard on Sirus XM NHL Hockey Network that more people watched the Hall of Fame Football Pre Season game from Buffalo last week then watched Game #5 of this past NHL Stanley Cup Final game between the Rangers and LA. Both were nationally televised.

Interesting fact. Make of it what you will.

I believe he is which means you will see him for at the veey least beginning of the season. Its the way our management works. I dont like it but that's the way its been done in the past and there's nothing that makes me think it'll change this season.

Her defense partner was Bill for a while though...he's like the AMac of scandal corsi. We need one of those charts that shows with Bill and without Bill.

Funny thing is, it always seemed like he was pretty clean in most of those events but she was right at the center...(perhaps he played wing). A lot of ex secret service agents claim she was the biggest A-hole they ever worked with. Maybe she just needs a trade...er change of scenery.
