Exactly. Big part of why I hate them with a passion. I understand their purpose, but still really despise what they stand for today.

c'est incroyable.

I know a few people who are cops and firefighters.

they don't really have to worry about anything.

you know exactly when you'll retire and what you'll have and pretty much everything you make until then is disposable income. (or at least that's how they act and present themselves)

I don't like retroactive poop though. they were hired under certain conditions and I have no problem with them changing going forward but retroactive poop is a bit (frank)ed up.

I mostly agree, but I can't believe there's not some wiggle room when you earn 71K for 25 years and retire at 46 with an annual pension of $49000 after paying for 6% of it.

Their whole "we haven't stolen anything" slogan is so idiotic. They perfectly know this isn't the issue.

We're talking about money.

And if they have a problem with criminals, maybe they shouldn't be cops in the first place.

But that's just my humble opinion.

So you think no one would want to be a cop or a firefighter if they had to pay their fair share of their retirement plan?

They put their life on the line for 25 yrs, so when they retire they can get a good pension. I have no problem with that.

When you have a bad day, you go home with a paper cut. When they have a bad day, they don't go home.

oh... I thought when they had a bad day they just sat on a street corner all day giving tickets to people just trying to get home after a bad day at work.

look, I understand the dangers of their job but it's a job they select and the dangers are very transparent.

also we don't exactly live in (frank)in compton here.

just got this email from my wife:

I was in the elevator and on the next floor this lady gets on around 50 years old and she says "allo, ca va?"(to me).
So I answer "allo oui ca va, et toi? "

so she answers me back "oui, et toi?" so I answer back "bien merci" so she goes "non je te corrigais avec le "et toi". Basically for me to have said et toi to her instad of et vous.

WTF?!?

my wife speaks, reads and writes 4 languages. I told her next time she sees that lady to as her how she is in all 4.

To be fair, they don't make 71k when they start working.

The retroactive thing (frank)ing sucks, if anything I don't think they should do that.... they made life choices based on certain terms and they shouldn't be changed.

This being said, the people working right now, the same one putting up the posters everywhere, I'm not sure they realize that they'll be the ones biting the bullet in the end.

Maybe they became cops thinking that they'd have a (frank)ing amazing pension and would retire at 46... but now that may change and they aren't happy.

I'd love to beat up homeless people and stupid students and retire at 46.
