so the remaining 60 games are totally blacked out, out of Quebec?
- stinger67

Yep. Well, I don't know for sure. They're blacked out where I live in T.O.

I think I'm just going to get Centre Ice. I can't tolerate missing 3/4 of the games.

Can't have both RDS and TVA Sport ?

Having spent the better part of 30 years here, I can safely say I am acutely aware of that fact.

Sure, I can have RDS if I want to pay $11/month or something for a channel I'll never watch because it isn't broadcasting Habs games this coming season.

yep but now it hurts. RDS is regional only. There is a petition going around. 2000 signatures now.

I thought he had an opinion and used facts to back it up...at least in some degree.

I don't care one way or another and really the Habs hands were tied....they had to sign PK. But isn't there the remotest chance that maybe Habs Management think they overpaid? That maybe PK isn't a complete Saint?

BTW...Habbies...I'd love PK on the Leafs....and he might even make the Jets.

Down Goes Brown said it well:

...All of that points to this being an overpay, and maybe even a big one. But here’s the thing: Occasional lockout corrections aside, the NHL’s salary cap keeps going up, and it almost certainly will continue to do so for a long time to come. Comparisons to deals signed as far back as 2011 (in Doughty’s case) don’t really hold up. And with the CBA outlawing the sort of ultra-long back-diving deals that other comparables had received, Subban’s total doesn’t seem all that unreasonable. It’s the same logic that led to Jonathan Toews’s and Patrick Kane’s recent extensions that kick in for 2015-16 and carry $10.5 million cap hits. Subban may not be on the Toews tier in terms of overall value, but you could argue he’s at least in the same ballpark as Kane.

And so we’re left with a number that feels like it’s too high, and probably is — right up until the next Subban-type player signs his deal. By the time we’re a few years into this one, it probably starts to seem like a bargain … as long as Subban keeps playing at a Norris contender’s level.

I think you can pay 42$ a year to only get the Habs game via WEB.

Nah, it's actually pretty awesome. The sweet, salty tears of Leaf Fan heartache every time the Leafs come crashing down from the OctoCup has become quite addictive.

It could be 20,000. Rogers has $5.2 Billion "signatures" in the NHL coffers that will dictate otherwise.

Oh, didn't know about those regional things. Thought RDS were broadcasting 60 games to everyone subscribed to their channel.

Do you think I did? I stand by every single thing I said on Friday. I was adamant that if this thing amounted to a one-year settlement decided by the arbiter, that was a gross failure and some real bad business. To me, there were only two options after the arb hearing: Sign him to the deal he wants or trade him. There was no, let's re-evaluate in 6 months. No, let's sign him next summer. There was no point of return from where arbitration would've taken them had the ruling come down.

Someone came up to me this weekend and said, "I think Bergevin's a genius," and then said "you see!". Nothing genius about it. They could've signed him on Friday to the same deal he signed on Saturday. They made a play and the play failed and hurt both sides.

And, as I mentioned in my blog, it's disappointing we haven't heard from Bergevin. Because he should be trumpeting this new deal and reinforcing the idea that this was all just tough business. That will inevitably happen, but if you think he didn't take some of this personally as well, you're deluded.

Also, I'll say this...If I'm the habs, I'd rather be paying for 8 years from 25 to 33 than paying for 5 years at a discount (the 23 to 28 had he not been given a bridge deal) then having to negotiate a long term contract with a UFA where he's looking for 8 years and a MASSIVE pay day (those 8 years running from 28 to 36...where you're still paying top dollar for a 34, 35 and 36 year old Subban). Of course these are all hypotheticals should Subban play out his career in Mtl...but still...
