Trade Subban's ass to Toronto or and let him play out his carreer without even thinking about a Stanley Cup.

Phaneuf+ for Subban.

PK

I backed Bergiven on the bridge deal. When you tell a guy "show us" and he wins a Norris and leads a team to the Eastern Conference finals you have to show him the money. All the Habs are doing is the price in the long run. Or losing him to UFA.

Seriously I watched each and every game PK played with the Canadiens and I think that Bergevin saw everything that I saw.. His defensive play is terrible and he do not seem to care about it. It's a thing to take the puck behind your own net and trying to deke everyone on the ice in a spectacular fashion and it's another to be really effective at both ends of the ice. His Norris was won on 48 games... Sign him short term and trade him in the next months...

Who cares. Business is Business and Marc Bergevin set that standard with Pk on his bridge deal. If Bergevin doesn't like whats transpiring now he can let 29 other NHL teams decide what hes worth in 2 years. Bergevin made his bed, let him sleep in it. Tough Luck

The Habs are really looking bad right now. They are low-balling Subban big time. If he signs another short term contract, enjoy him while it lasts cause he'll be sick of being mistreated by the Habs.

They told him to sign a bridge contract last time and prove that he's worth a big contract.

He did.

Then Bergevin low balls him. Real classy.

Surely PK is worth more than Dion right Habs fans? You are fond of telling us how much better he is. Start at Dion's salary and go up from there.

Just remember guys that

5.25Mil and 8.5Mil are only the starting salary offers for negociating from both sides. I'm pretty sure Bergevin wanted the deal around 6.25-6.5Mil

At the end tho, pretty awful from both sides. Love PK, but he shouldn't be paid highest Dman in the league and MB shouldn't try at 5.25. It's almost insulting

Not according to the CBA. While common sense tells us Bergevin put lower than he thought Subban was worth; that's actually breaking the CBA. Habs had to offer what they believed the player was worth for a one year contract, then argue he was worth what they offered. Not offer where they wanted to start negotiations from.

And Subban never asked to be the highest paid defenseman in the league. The highest cap hit, perhaps; but it's not his fault owners limited contracts to 7/8 years and can no longer lower cap hits with lifetime contracts.

Actually Subban's career so far is very much like Dion's was at that point. Dion was second in Norris voting (to Lidstrom) back in the day, and Phaneuf had more points through his first four seasons than PK has had.

It's now up to PK to live up to his talent and improve where Dion has taken a step back in recent years.
