The other norris winners since 2012 make beween 5.6 and 6.5, but yeah pks norris in half a season is worth 9 - GardinerExpress
I think you're neglecting to mention how important he was to Montreal through the playoffs. I guess it's hard to keep track of when you're playing NHL14 in April. And apparently 5 million is Gardiner money, so logically, PK should be making 15 mil a year. |

You replied to comment solely about PK and said rather have chara and the bruins d core, which would be 1 vs 7 - Yeti1181

Did you know Karlsson leads the league in 5v5 shot attempts by a d-man by a wide margin? - Talkshowhost
I guess the easiest why for me to explain myself is that when I watch the bruins and our d men are not scoring, for example boychuck, Seindenberg, Mcquaid, and even Chara, I'm not upset.
There job is to keep the puck out of our net not put the biscuit in the other teams basket. And I'm used to that and want it that way, personally.
I can tell if the d is playing well by watching them and by our GA.
But, if Karlsson, Letang, Subban, green, etc., if they are not scoring goals then they are not playing well for there respective teams.
I guess it is a preference thing. I like shut down d men that are inclined to stay home and then have the forwards score my goals. It's worked for us b's fans.
Preference I guess. |

I see your point, but Subban is responsible not only for his own goals, but for a lot of other Habs player's goals. His skating and his breakout passes are hugely important. He's the teams best offensive player on a team that doesn't have a lot of it.
Like you said, preference. |

Coming back to this. Is Letang not the #1 on Pittsburgh? are they not a top team? I understand their playoff woes, but that's on Fleury. - ehabs9
Again. If I had to pick a player to play defense with a goal lead and two minutes left in the game.......I'm not going to pick Letang or Subban or Karlsson.
That's all I'm saying.
They are very good players but I prefer the boston or LA systems myself.
I don't like, on the bruins at least, the risky d men that may go for a big hit and cost us a goal or try to go all Bobby Orr on the other team and turn the puck over,
Different styles. I hope I works out for Habs fans thou, seriously. Make the games between us more enjoyable. |

I hear you, and I understand where you're coming from. It's different styles of game.
Not directed at you, but I just find it funny when people complain about d-men who play offensive games instead of defensive ones. No one says poop about forwards who can't score for the life of them, but they play great defence. I'm not going to complain about where my team's offence or defence comes from, just as long as it gets done overall on a team level. |

calling Keith a defensive liability shows just how little you know...he was the shutdown pair with Seabrook for years until the Swedish pairing came along and was more suited for a strictly defensive role. Keith and Seabs are not paired against top forward lines so they can contribute more offensively...the guy is a +125 on his career - EnzoD
Jeez......
Did Keith just win the Norris and have a dominate offensive year?
Yes.
May some of that have to do with less responsibility on the defensive side if the puck?
Yes.
He started a majority if his shifts in the O zone, AND as you just stated was not playing against the top line of the other team.
That's all I was trying to say. Playing less d allows you to score more goals.....as with Subban and Letang. |

my point is he's not a defensive liability whatsoever. he has maybe the best active stick and gap control of any dman in the league...the reason he won the Norris this year is due to his 2-way ability...if he was a defensive liability then Weber would have won the Norris |

You called Keith a defensive liability, which just might be the most moronic statement ever made on HockeyBuzz...and that's saying a lot.

I think what he meant was, Keith gave up some of his effectiveness defensively in order to contribute more offensively. Liability was just poor wording. |
