Can someone explain to me the term possession anchor. Based on usage it seems like it means the player is so bad in the possession game that it drags then down. Just a nee term for me. I'm not a bug advanced stats guy, I prefer the eye test and results.

Get over it. Market value is sky rocketing and he was a RFA at the right moment in terms of how he was playing and how value for NHL players were skyrocketing. If the other guys were not locked up long term they'd be paid this high too. At some point you have to forget history and just think about the economics of the NHL and sports in general. Salaries are only going to go up with all the new TV and digital deals and players will be paid accordingly. Stamkos will prob be the highest paid fwd when he's a FA in a couple of seasons.

How many times have player signed contract and the hockey universe collectively spit out their cheerios when they saw the money. Only to look at the contract anywhere from 2-4 years down the road and say, that's really not so bad.
