JFC, just saw it!

Reminds of Theisman's leg break. Snapped clean, yikes!!

Gruesome

- BiggE

Gruesome. Still a freak accident, though. There is already talk about how dangerously close the hoop stanchions are in relation to the court. After how many years??

It's a shame when drugs and booze take their toll on pros as in the case of Viktor Khatulev. Dude seems like he had the world in his hands and just never got the help he needed.

I know today we are flooded with commercials for treatment centers all over the place. Not sure how readily help was available back than. Sort of feel like if had been playing today, maybe he would have got cleaned up. Of course you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink it. Maybe he just didn't want the help. We'll never know.

Treatments for drugs addiction is another picture in itself. Most times, you "kick" the habit you were rehabbing for just for a different drug.

Want to kick opiods? Fine. Now you're blowing your money on a suboxone addiction.

Want to kick heroin? Fine. Now you're blowing your money on your methadone addiction.

Personally, I smoke. After a few of 'experimentation', its where I landed.

Heard on the radio that the ice rink for the Ukraine team Donbass was burned down.
Moscow Spartak is closing down its team this season as the bank that sponsors the team is out of funds. What a mess.

Spartak was open that this would be their last season months ago; this isn't in response to the sanctions on the Bank of Moscow. Don't mix stories.

This is why I don't care about this stuff. Well...it's not that I don't care, it's that I don't have any opinions on it. They'd all be off base and be drawn from assumptions and only seeing the surface. And that's not right.

People ask me what I think and I say "I have nothing educated to say on the matter".

And no, I will not go read news articles about it, because that makes it worse.

Well, you could disagree 110% and bloviate on a subject that you dont have the slightest clue about

Jesus, why did Montreal even bother starting with that ridiculous offer of 5.25?

Just realised Subban's camp asked for 8.5 in arb on a one year deal and then got 9M over 8 yrs. how does that work? Nice work by Subban's agent.

Exactly! This makes no sense at all. Why go through the arbitration process. It would make sense if Montreal was going to stick to their guns. And in some way, maybe what they were doing there is what every team needs to do, to hold salaries down. But it would only work if every team did it, but then it would probably be labeled collusion.

I think the lowball offer was to try n meet in the middle... but how the (frank) did it go up an extra 500k?

I get anchoring lower than you expect to sign him for, and meeting in the middle. Close to $5m, though? May as well have said $2.5m if he was going to play dumb. Anyways, I think the added salary was a matter of damage control. Staring down the barrel of losing their star player premier defenseman in a year, he gave into their demands. PK had all the leverage at that point imo.

No he didn't because he was alone on a mountain. Just not sure what his intention was there. Why just make the deal if the was willing to do it? Now if all the GM's got together and used the same hardball negotiating, to help lower salaries, then I would understand it.

Cost of soaking up a lot of UFA years... likely their case vs PK in arb was a soft ball and they were looking near a max award... would have set them up for an even higher cap-hit to re-sign him next summer... looks like they realized they might as well stop with all the posturing and bluffing and bite the bullet now.

Finally got an extended opportunity. If he plays the next two seasons the way he did last season, he's going to be a very wealthy man
