Subban would have a long term lucrative contract signed if he was 1 of the toppings on an all dressed pizza.

I'm wondering what the Habs brass is seeing in Subban that won't let them commit long term.

Montreal GM and coach have sent lots of sigals that they do not believe PK is as good as all the hype and self promotion. Next summer, teams will be able to put their money where there mouth is and make Subban a RFA offer. The media loves PK. The fans love PK. But he does not get much love from the insiders. Toronto will not make an offer. I doubt any team will.
