I'm just glad you correctly listed the best center on the first line. Most people aren't smart enough to do that.

looking it up, you are correct on how the salary is determined, for some reason I had misread that and was incorrect.
what my main fear would be if I was a Habs fan, is that if the Habs didn't want to pay Subban what he was worth this year, it could be awfully tempting next year to force the team to take him to arbitration for a one year deal and hit the ufa market early. Pay now, or lose later.

PK may not do this and he may be fine to take the one year and look at a longer term deal next year, but come next summer I'd be very uncomfortable as a Habs fan waiting to see if they could sign him long term.

Of course, none of the fans want to see him walk away in 2 years time. The hope is that they will find a common ground to stand on and settle this sooner than later.

What I am reading into this saga (personal opinion), is that the PK camp are asking for a long term deal and astronomical sums. Otherwise, this would have been settled prior to arbitration.

If by any chance they cannot agree within the coming months, Montreal will likely be shopping him. He'd be dealt out west, to one of the Californian teams is my guess. He'd probably be inclined to sign long term there once he's had a big toe in the Pacific.

Having said that, Montreal is in no position to lose him. They first have to do everything they can to sign him long-term.

He will sign with Montreal, that's why they're in arbitration. He belongs to the Habs for the next 2 years, no matter what. Unless of course his demands (no one really knows what they are) are so out of proportion, that Montreal sees no way of meeting them. At this point, they'd be looking to trade him within this 2 year period.

I think that 'belongs' is a risky word to be using in this statement.

I don't think Nyquist is the next Zetterberg, he's more like the next Zack Parise. Not as good of an all around player as Zetterberg, but nothing to slouch at either. Probably not going to carry the Wings on his back like Zetterberg has been know to do at times but a great contributor.

He's not much, just the next Zach Parise...

Holland may be the only guy in the world who would say no to that. He loves Kyle Quincey.

I loved listening to 105.1 the day his new deal was signed. Not a single person had a nice thing to say. I just don't get that trade or contract.

We drafted him 132nd overall and then he goes away. He gets traded back to use via a 3 way deal that cost us our 1st overall. He's paid ok for how terrible he plays in the neutral zone and his terrible turnovers/mistakes/pinches. Everyone from fans to writers to stats guys say he sucks. So Holland resigns him for 4.25 million a (frank)ing year. Absolute bull poop.

Maybe Quincey has some questionable photos of Holland in a bathhouse or something.

That'd be a long time to be crying. I wasn't alive back then. I think it's less upsetting when you have no idea what your team winning feels like.
