Orpik is one of a few players that received a higher contract at 33 than he did as a free agent at 27, makes no sense what so ever, he was once a good defenseman, now he is on a steady decline and that contract will be an albatross by the end of this season - KreiderBomb

Pretty classless of Shawn Thornton to squirt PK Subban with water on his way into arbitration today IMO. |

just sign him to the same deal as girardi or 6x6 and be done with it, if one of the kids comes pushing for a job then you trade a guy, please don't let him walk for nothing, even though we have a lot of kids coming up, strange to have that as NYR but last years draft really was a miracle, duclair and buchnevich both have star potential and i didn't knew that tambellini scored 39 points in the 31 games he played in the WHL, that would give him 90+ points on a full year, he seems like a guy with very high potential as well, and he's big and plays center |

I've said it before, I think there's a better shot at Eric coming to NY via trade than there is Marc going to Carolina, they have 14 players signed for next season and roughly $15 million in cap space - KreiderBomb
I can see that too. To me Carolina has always been a bit of a mess roster wise. Have decent talent in their forwards put cant build around them bc of top heavy contract and are not to the cap limit type of team.
If they trade E.Staal now they could really set up a deep roster (granted a whole at number 1 center) getting a lot of young pieces back.
J.Staal would be harder to trade based on his contract lenghth but still moveable. |

If they have all four Staals on one team, doesn't Eric become Captain Planet? |

disagree
try being non bias to your team and look at it - jake24242
Trying to argue Brooks Orpik is better than Marc Staal is about as smart as trying to make out with a coffee grinder. |

This is really tough with Stepan, Hagelin, Zucc, and St Louis all becoming RFA/FA. We might lose someone like Hagelin resigning Staal. At this time Staal is vital to our defense but it might make sense to give him a 3X6 kind of deal and give Skjei time to turn pro and play a few seasons. I would stay away from signing Staal for more the 4 years mainly to manage the cap.
The other Staal brothers all have cup rings, does Marc really want to leave a team that has an open window for one that really doesn't give him that chance? I would think he'd want to win first before someday joining his brothers somewhere. |

I don't think we are ever in danger of losing an any RFA no matter what happens.
We are definitely in the danger zone right now of possibly losing Staal and Zuccarello next summer if Sather doesn't handle this right. |

Told that Brian Leetch will not be returning to position with NHL Dept of Player Safety. His choice.
With Dan Lacroix leaving AV's staff, wonder if Leetch will be joining us? |

Its not bias, its common sense. Staal is leaps and bounds more valuable than Orpik, and this is coming from a Devils fan. - TheJerseyDevil1
You don't have to be a fan of any specific team to realize that Staal is infinitely better than Orpik.
You just need an IQ that somewhat exceeds Forrest Gump's. |
